It was Wednesday. The day River has surgery. Rivers mom allowed me to drive him to the hospital at two in the morning in order to have alone time with him.
Yes she thinks we are dating. She always have wanted us together.
I sigh jiggling my leg as we stop at the red light. "Would you calm down." River laughs placing his hand on my knee. "I can't calm down Riv this is major." I say biting my lower lip.
He laughs and pulls my right hand into his and kisses it. "You need to stay calm for me if anything." He smirks.
I nod pulling into the closet parking spot and shut the car off. I look over at River who had paled at the sight of the hospital. I know he's just as nervous as I am.
I don't know how I got inside the hospital but I did. All I know now is i'm sitting on a black leather couch waiting for news on River.
"Callie do you want something? Coffee?" Rivers mom Joanna asks. "No i'm fine. I don't even like Coffee." I say trying to lighten the mood. I jiggle my right leg and Joanna laughs. "You're just like Mason you know."
I look up at her and she smiles at me. "He always shoke his right leg when he got nervous. You both have this look you give it's similar. You'd think the two of you were twins instead." She laughs. I smile at her. "Mason and I have always been very close."
"Yes I know I use to babysit all of you. I could pick up on all of that. By the time you were in Middle school all I heard about was you from Rivers mouth." She chuckles. "That boy is so in love with you." She sighs looking at her watch. "I'll be back in about five minutes. I nedd coffee." She laughs.
I nod as she exits the waiting area. Not long after the doctor who did Rivers surgery comes in. "Good to see you." He smiles. "How's River?" I ask bolting off of the couch.
"He's stable. You should be able to see him in an hour to three hours. Depends on when he decides to wake up." He say nodding.
"D-Do you know if the tumor is cancerous?" I ask slowly. "Not yet but i'm leaning more towards a no." He says. I nod as Joanna comes back in. She talks with the doctor awhile.
I check my watch and see it is seven in the morning. I am beyond tired. I could go home take a power nap and come back in an hour or so.
"Hey i'm going to go home and take a nap and take the dogs out." I say to Joanna. "That's fine sweetie i'll see you later?" She asks. "Yep! I won't be but an hour or two." I say.
By the time I get home my parents have already left and my brothers probably are at school. I enter the house and head to the back letting the dogs out to do there buisness. It's good we have a fenced yard because I decide to leave them out while I take a nap.
My cat Nila joins me meowing occassionally when I do not scratch her head. I laugh at her and finally doze off

By the time I wake up I noticed that I have been sleeping over four hours. I quickly get up getting a unapproving grunt from my dog. "How did you get back in?" I ask the dog.
"I thought you were with River." My mom says coming into my room and pat the dogs head. "He's in recovery. Or was." I say looking at her.
She nods and puts a stack of my clothes on the dresser. I stand up and head to the bathroom fixing my hair and makeup. I decide to text Joanna telling her I will be there soon.
"I'm going to see River." I say exiting the bedroom. I get into my car backing out and head back to the hospital. I park in a spot and head in. I head to the NCCU.
I get Rivers room and head down the hall entering after I knock. "Hi." I whisper seeing him. He looks over at me and smiles slightly and tries to speak.
He gives me one of those faces and gives up. "Doctor said some things will be hard at first." Joanna says looking at her glaring son.
I nod and walk around the grasping Rivers left hand and look at his head. They didn't shave very much hair off but I know he's going to want to get some type of haircut.
"I'll let you two be alone." River's mom smiles standing up. I'll be back."
River motions for me to come closer and I do kissing his cheek. "How are you?" I ask. "F-fine." He stammers. "Minus this." He adds pointing to his head. I laugh. "I think you look like a hottie anyways."
He chuckles softly pulling me clswr to him. He wraps his arms around me and I lay my head on his chest. "I like being with you." River says softly as he plants his lips onto my forehead. "I'd hope so we have been friends for a long time." I snicker.

" words begining with C, S, And V are harder on him. Everything else is alright. His sight isn't 20/20 any more but nothing glasses or contacts won't fix." The doctor says as he finishes his check up on River.
"There is no way in hades i'm wearing glasses." River says fumbling over his words.
I laugh knowing River has tried for a long time to clean up his language. He shoots me a glare and I shrug sticking my tongue out at River.
"Do you think Duke misses you?" I ask when the doctor leaves. "The dog?" He asks but then nods knowing that is what i'm talking about.
River has been in the hospital for exactly five days. He's hated every minute of it. I've spent most of my time after school with him. He's really appreciated it.
"Joanna has been taking good care of him." I smile.
River nods and turns his attention back to the window. He watches a couple walk in the garden and rounds the fountain. I watch him in ah as he studies the two people.
"I want a relationship where I can grow old with a girl." River admits looking over at me. He fumbles slightly on the words but he discards the feeling looking at me.
"Do you believe in love River?" I ask looking at the wall behind his head. "I don't know honestly." He says. "I want to believe there is love but then not so much."
"I think there is love you just have to look in the right place." I reply. "And then you have different views."
He nods.
Does River feel the same way about love as I do? Or does he have a different way of loving?
