"Summer, time to wake up" a soft voice said. I opened my eyes to be greeted with a warm smile. I thanked our maid Gracie and gave her permission to leave my bedroom. Pulling off my cream bedcover off, I made my way over to wardrobe, opening up the brown wood door.
My hands sifted through my clothes which Gracie had hung early this morning, deciding what to wear for my first day of school. I finally decided on some caramel crotchet shorts and a white v-neck t-shirt. Folding them over my arm, I went into my en-suite bathroom, making sure to lock it behind me.
"Are you ready yet?" I heard continuous knocking on the bathroom door. I applied my last bit of tinted lip balm and unlocked the door to be met with my little twin sisters Connie and Skyla.
Me, my sisters, my parents are Gracie have just moved to Melbourne from England. Gracie came with us for the work, and she loved working for my family.
"I'm ready now" I say, walking past the twins, collecting my bag off of my freshly made bed. The twins follow me out of my room, making sure to shut the door. I don't get it, but they seem to follow me everywhere. I had to walk down two sets of marble stairs until I was downstairs.
I didnt bother saying goodbye to anyone as my parents were still in bed and Gracie was washing up. I quickly grabbed the breakfast bar left by the door for me before walking out into the Melbourne streets. The warm air hitting against my skin as I followed the signs to my new school, which was only a few minutes away from the new house.
Finally, I arrived at the grand school infront of me. Rushing teenagers bustling past. I followed the crowd into the modern building. The reception was opposite the door, thankfully. I made my way over to it, smiling a little at the passing students. The lady at reception was on the phone, so I didn't really want to interrupt. I sat down on the uncomfortable wooden chairs, waiting.
The halls were now silent, no loud students. ''May I help you?" A thick Australian accent asked. I stood up to face the receptionist. "Summer. Summer Woods" "Ah" She flipped through some papers before taking out a crisp sheet and handing it to me.
"Why are you out of lesson? Get to lesson!" I turn to hear shouting. I look down the hall to see a teacher who has just come it if her classroom to address this boy. The boy is walking down the hallway, not even noticing the teacher. He had a faded green stroke which now looked blonde, but the rest was brunette. I noticed a glisten from his lips, a ring. And a nose stud. He was wearing a black jumper which had the Rock Paper Scissors sign on with some ripped navy jeans.
He looked up at me, noticing my staring. He started to smirk a little before I had to control my blushing and turn back to the receptionist. She handed me my timetable and called the boy over.
"Luke, take Summer to her lesson then get to yours!" "What's in it for me?" He says, walking over, leaning against the wall. I looked down, avoiding his gaze which was practically burning holes right through my body. "Just do it!" "Fine" he huffed, taking my arm, dragging me down the hallway.
"Gimme. Gimme!" He said, referring to my timetable. I gave it to him as he scanned over it. "Oh look. We have maths together, yay" he told me, adding sarcasm. I ignored his rudeness as he guided me to the class.
"Luke, I'm not happy about you being late!" The male tutor boomed. "I was taking summer to her class" Luke corrected, a smirk plastered on his face. I gave a small wave to the teacher.
"Ah well. Luke and Summer, you can sit together. Over there" he said, pointing to the window.
This is going to be a fun day.
