Rachel's POV

"Okay, get your razzle dazzle boots on cause Miss Berry you are going to a party for your last performance of Wicked as Elphaba!" Kurt said excitedly as he gave Rachel a dress he picked out for her

"Kurt, I honestly don't know whose more excited. You or me." Rachel said as she started to put on her dress. Rachel was 27, on Broadway and just finished Wicked as Elpahba. It was her last night to truly shine (as Elpahba). She was going to enjoy herself at this party. Probably do some karaoke, and eat a lot of cocktail shrimps.

"It's obviously me, and remember don't embarrass yourself by eating too many cocktail shrimps." Kurt said in a serious tone in reminder of what happened last time they were at a Broadway after party. "I'd love to be there but Blaine has tickets to a play, and I'd love to see the performance."

"Kurt, it's not a big deal, you've been there for me so often, be there for Blaine too! Plus it's just some party. I'll be fine. I mean its one party. What could go wrong?" Rachel said as she emerged in a white dress, floor length with diamonds on it, and her hair in curls. Kurt gasped as she laughed, it was time.

Jesse's POV

Jesse was successful as well, after Rachel crushed his heart at Nationals, after Nationals 2012, he got off his ass forgot about Rachel and worked his way up. First he was in Aladdin, then for a small while in Beauty and the Beast but he was offered a role in The Phantom of the Opera. After that he was in Hamilton. That ended a month ago. As memory serves a year ago Jesse decided to go to Lima, Ohio to see if the stunning young ingénue that could get to him was stuck in that dreadful city with a man whose most likely flipping burgers at Mc Donald's, none other that Mr. Finn Hudson. He checked on Puck who kept in touch with Rachel. They had a trade of information, on the last day of every month at 10:00 pm they'd Skype. Puck would talk about Rachel and Jesse would talk about Beth. And this was a year ago. That day Puck informed Jesse that Rachel was going to be Elphaba in Wicked, and Jesse cried tears of joy knowing that Rachel was successful (Puck laughed at how he was crying). After that, Jesse attended opening night and saw how a girl from Lima, Ohio became his favourite Broadway performer ever. He even liked her more than him sometimes, but that's confidential.

Jesse was always being praised for his work. And he thought he'd put his power to GOOD use. Jesse decided to do whatever he could to get Funny Girl up again, and Rachel as Fanny Brice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author's POV

Jesse had zero idea as to why he was at that party for the last night of Wicked. He was friends with most of the crew, but that was it. At the start of the party they cast gave speeches, when Rachel went up, Jesse hid so she wouldn't freak. They hadn't seen each other in 9 years and still she makes his heart go a million miles per second. After the speeches, the director of Wicked announced that he was bring up Funny Girl again. And that a Nick Arnstein candidate was present. He said that the candidate was also saying that the perfect Fanny Brice was present too. And that brought the elephant in the room. Brie Nawter aka Glinda, immediately thought She was going to be offered Fanny. She was a Jewish version of Santana one might say. She was constantly  telling everybody that she was "better", "bigger" and "prettier". As fate has it her enemy was Rachel Berry. She also took a liking to Jesse. I mean, who wouldn't?

"I would like to present our beautiful Fanny Brice..." everybody listened in, while Jesse was crossing his fingers. Rachel was at the front of the group waiting with true hope that her name will be called. "Miss Rachel Berry everybody" Rachel smiled in disbelief as she quickly ate the cocktail shrimp in her mouth and got on the stage. Rachel stood on stage as she noticed how Brie had the biggest frown on her face. Rachel smirked as she stood with more pride in herself. As she was looking at the crowd she noticed a man that was trying to be unseen. Rachel looked closer as she noticed it was Jesse St.James.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rachel's POV

Crap. That's all she could think. Why was Jesse here?!?! She knew he was famous on Broadway and like the King of Broadway, but that wouldn't explain why he was there.

"And the wonderful Nicky Arnstein will be none other than..." Rachel crossed her fingers hoping that it wouldn't be Jesse. The irony in that eh?

"The King of Broadway himself, Jesse St.James!" Everyone clapped in excitement this would be a show everyone would attend. Jesse made his way up to the stage as he went up the stairs he didn't know how he should react to this. Rachel was there, beautiful as she was at 18. And after realizing that no matter what happened he'd always love her it didn't matter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jesse's POV

After we got off the stage and discussed things with the producer, Rachel pulled me aside.

"How are you Jesse?" she asked quietly

"Fine" I said flashing back to the moment when she kissed Finn onstage at Nationals

"Jesse I'm sorry about National's" she said with a tear dripping from her face. Jesse used his thumb to wipe it away

"It's fine Rachel. That was a long time back. We were young and foolish. But we're adults now. I'm guessing you've matured from those animal sweaters." Jesse said as she lightly swatted his arm. "Well it was nice meeting you Rachel. I'm sure we'll meet again though." Jesse said as he started to walk away

"Wait Jesse!" Rachel called as she started to run in her heels to him. Jesse hadn't heard her call from all the noise in New York and started to head into a cab. Rachel managed to reach the cab in time as Jesse sat in the cab. It was them and the driver, all confused.

"Rachel... what are you doing?" Jesse asked as truly confused

"I need to talk to you. Can we go to your place?" Rachel asked. Jesse nodded

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Rachel and Jesse made their way into his brownstone, Rachel looked in surprise and shock at the beautiful home he had and Jesse quietly laughed at her shock.

"Well I'm going to change out of this tux." Jesse said as he and Rachel made eye contact. "Did you want some guest pyjama's?"

"Guest pyjamas Jesse?" Rachel asked in amusement

"Don't judge, they come in handy for unexpected visitors such as yourself." Jesse said as he Rachel a silk set of pyjamas "Well you can change in the washroom down the hall" Rachel nodded as she made she way there.

After they dressed and Jesse made them a cup of tea and Queen was playing quietly they sat on his couch and were looking at each other wondering what was going to happen next

"So what did you want to ask?" Jesse said as he put his cup of tea down

"I wanted to ask why? Why did you ask the producer to cast me as Fanny Brice? I thought I'd be the last person that you'd recommend"

"Well, I didn't ask to be Nicky that was his decision. It's not that I don't want to be with the amazing Rachel Berry every night singing our heart out. But I know it'd make you uncomfortable if I were to be your love interest. And as to why I recommended, well I thought I'd own you that much after the egg incident." Jesse said as he remembered that awful mistake. His one regret.

"I forgive you Jesse." Rachel said. Rachel noticed that he was staring at the fire hating himself for it. She tugged on his chin and lightly pulled it to look at her. They looked at each other in the eye and forgot every mistake that had happened, they kissed and that passion turned into something much more. In other words, something that they didn't do a long time ago, happened.
