This is a Harry Potter oneshot, based on the song Youth by Troye Sivan. Keep an eye out for lyrics sprinkled throughout ;)

James Sirius Potter and his best friend, Ciara Johnson, sat in the Gryffindor common room, absolutely losing their minds. Their N.E.W.T.S. were approaching fast and work was piling up on them. Year 7s were grumpier than usual and everyone steered clear of them. All students who had exams were looking forward to the Hogsmeade weekend to finally get away from their studies. As James recited Transfiguration spells and their purposes, (Which just went in one ear and out the other) Ciara stared blankly at a roll of parchment with Ancient Runes that she was supposed to translate. James dropped his book out of frustration and sat down next to Ciara.
"What if we run away?" He asked.
She looked up from the parchment and raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean? We can't just drop everything and run out of the castle."
"No, that's not what I mean. This weekend at Hogsmeade. We can apparate out to somewhere and just have some fun. We both could use a break"
She contemplated what he said for a minute before agreeing to it.
James smiled a smile brighter than a Christmas tree. He picked up his book and continued to test himself. After a few failed attempts, he spoke up again. "What if we left today?"
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

The long-awaited Hogsmeade weekend came into people's lives like a saviour. Excitement jumped around in Ciara's tummy while her and James walked to Hogsmeade, a spring in their steps. Groups of friends and couples walked amongst them, talking to each other as they went. But Ciara and James couldn't talk. All they could do was silently share their excitement. When they finally reached the town, they sprinted to get to the most secluded spot they could find. The first thing that caught their attention was a small alleyway leading to a few old closed down shops. James pulled out his wand and Ciara grabbed on tightly to his arm.
"Where should we go?" He asked.
"What if we're hard to find?" She replied, a wild look in her eyes.
"Is what I'm hearing correct? Our sweet little Ciara, our safe little Ciara, wanting to do something wild?"
"Just shut up and apparate us."
James laughed and obeyed. The familiar feeling of apparition pressed in on Ciara. Her entire body felt like it was being turned inside out. She couldn't breathe or see anything. And as quick as it started, it stopped. They were literally in the middle of nowhere. There were endless grass fields on their right, and a fairytale forest to their left. Straight ahead of them, cows grazed on the luscious green grass. A distant rush of water could be heard over the songs of birds. It was truly beautiful. No other people around for miles. Ciara took a deep breath to enjoy the clean and refreshing air around her before James tugged at her arm and dragged her a little towards the forest.
"Where are we?" Ciara asked. She refused to go anywhere before knowing exactly where they were.
"Our family comes here to camp every summer. I don't really know our exact location, though." James glanced at Ciara's widened eyes before adding "We'll be fine, don't worry!"
He began to run towards the forest. "Come on, I want to show you something!"
Ciara hesitantly followed and was grateful of her decision immediately. Neither of them had ran properly in ages and it felt amazing to finally stretch their legs. The further in to the forest they ran, the louder the rush of water got. After chasing each other for ten minutes, they finally came to a halt. They were in the heart of the forest. A medium sized hill with a beautiful waterfall stood at the edge of a large and deep lake. James and Ciara looked at each other, giant smiles plastered on both of their faces.
"What if we lost our minds?" James asked.

The two looked out at everything from the top of the hill. All they could see was forest and grass. James cautiously looked down at the waterfall and lake before turning to Ciara.
"I hate to be a Ciara but that looks really dangerous. I don't know if we should..."
"Oh come on, it was your idea. What if we said goodbye to safe and sound?" She persuaded.
He looked at her face and how exhilarated she was. He hated to admit it, but seeing her happy was almost always what he wanted. He begrudgingly agreed. They took their shoes off but left the rest of their clothes on. They joined hands and grabbed on tight, some tighter than others. Ciara took a deep breath and counted down from three. They jumped off the hill. The distance between the top of the hill and the lake wasn't too big, but falling through it felt like it took hours. The wind whipping on their faces and clothes. Their stomachs churning. Their hearts beating wildly. And suddenly it was over. Frigid lake water engulfed them and they swam to the top. They swam side by side to the lakeshore and helped each other out. As soon as they were both sitting on the ground, trying to get some warmth from the weak April sun, they broke into fits of laughter. Ciara's heart was beating so hard it might as well have jumped out of her chest. "That was amazing!" Said James after they stopped laughing. Ciara nodded in agreement. He looked up at the hill again. Without looking away, he asked "Let's do it again but this time, what if we closed our eyes?"

And they did. They jumped into the lake with their eyes closed. And then they jumped in backwards. They jumped in many more times, trying new things everytime. They jumped in a lot of different ways but one thing always stayed the same. They always held on tightly to each other's hands. After about three hours of this, they did a drying spell on themselves and stopped jumping.
"If we head back now, we can grab a butterbeer before we have to go back to the castle" James said.
"Okay" Ciara agreed. They looked at their surroundings one last time before they disapparated back to the abandoned alleyway. They joined hands yet again and stepped back into the busy streets of Hogsmeade. Ciara kissed his cheek and they walked away from their apparating spot, pretending like they hadn't just been tripping on skies and sipping waterfalls.
