I couldn't sleep. I laid there, wide awake.
I swear I could've been laying in that one position for at least three hours, just staring at the roof, thinking.

I turned my head to look at the red glowing numbers on my alarm clock: 2:43am.

Why can't I just fall sleep?

I'm not even sure what I was thinking about to be quite honest. All I remember is just staring.
I remember noticing my window was slightly open. I quietly climbed out of bed to close it, I saw something move outside the window, making me freeze.
I was frozen in fear. As I slowly moved my eyes to see what had made the movement, the creature moved again, a little more sudden this time. Unable to move, I stood there, hoping it was just nothing. I continued to stand there for what seemed to be half an hour or more, the window still slightly open. I freaked out when I realised that whatever it was out there could easily climbed in the window. At that thought, I immediately without thinking slammed the window shut, scaring the creature away.

I peeped out toward the road where the little being had run off to, realising it was just a stray cat. It's eyes seemed to glow from the reflection of the streetlight as it stared at me through my window. Eventually it finally looked away and silently ran up the street, I watched it until it was no where to be seen.

I took a breath of relief and made my way back to my bed.
I don't know why I've been acting so strangely lately. Ive been so quiet; I've barely spoken to anyone lately, not even my parents. At that thought I had a flashback of dinner time the night before, remembering how mum tried making a conversation about school but I wasn't really focusing on what she had said.
I pretty much just replied with a muffled grumble that should've sounded like 'yeah school has been great'.
She asked if there was anything wrong, I just cut out of my daydream for a moment snapping back to reality and replied with a 'yeah sorry mum, just daydreaming.'

As I crawled back into my bed, I finally drifted off to sleep. I woke up to an alarm going off next to me, which immediately switched me awake. My eyes immediately turned to the radio on the other side of the room, the time read 4:01am. What? That mustn't be an alarm...

I grabbed my phone quickly from my bedside table and saw someone was calling me. No Caller ID.
I answered it in case it was a friend or someone I knew.

'Hello? This is Amber Rose, who's this?'

No reply.

'Hello anyone there?'

Still no reply.

'I'll have to hang up if no one is replyi-'

I was cut off by a voice.

'Heeey Amber just messing with ya it's Tristan babe how are you going bub?' I could hear Tristans voice loud and clear.

'Piss off, Tristan. I'm trying to sleep' I was disappointed to hear the sounds of my ex's voice.

'But babe I'm at a party and you are totally missing out!' He said whilst laughing.

'Don't call me babe and leave me alone, I'm trying to sleep!' I immediately hung up and put my phone on silent. I could see that a few seconds later he was attempting to call again, I just turned the phone off and fell back to sleep.
