Chapter 1, The Living Nightmares

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The little boy stepped down the wooden stairs of his home as the storm outside raged on. It was a very cold, stormy night... And he was awoken by the thunder.
His footsteps made creaking sounds on the old wooden stairs. He was sure to be careful; He didn't want to wake anyone. But, he felt as if it was okay. He is very light for his age. He's 10.
The boy focused on where he was stepping... Until finally, he was all the way down the stairs.
He breathed a little... Cautiously looking around him. He was very scared of lots of things... Like those stories his grandmother used to tell him to scare him. But, well, that was before she died.
He rubbed the back of his head, messing up his short, tuffed black hair.
He adjusted his shirt.. and began to creep along the old brown carpet.
The house was really dark. It was almost really hard for him to see.
He always had eye problems. He always had to wear glasses. However, something about him was different.
It was very hard for him to see at daytime... But at night, it was all so clear.
Although it's dark right now... He is wearing glasses. Which doesn't really allow him to see in darkness.
He didn't care anymore. He hated himself with every ounce of his hate.
The only person he loved in his hard life was his Mom, and his little sister, Ayaline.(Eye-Uh-Leene) or Aya. (Eye-uh)
Aya loved her big brother as much as he loved her. They never fought, unlike most siblings. They were happy together, like best friends. Since for them, it was very difficult to gain real friends.
They were pleased with just each other, though. Very pleased.
The little boy just kept walking along. He knew he couldn't really go to his parent's room. They hate it when he bothers them, especially with his own father being a vampire, and his mother human. They fight all the time. Sometimes it involves hitting and biting.
The loudness in their cruel words just kept him awake every night. His teachers wondered why he was always so tired. He couldn't speak about his problems to anyone. For, he had no one... His little sister wouldn't understand. Because, well, she's only 8. She doesn't understand things like that. She always asks Lenne, or Len, (the boy) why they always yell so much... He only smiled at her, and changed the subject.
 Len sighed as he sat on the couch in the darkness, starring up at the black ceiling.
Lightening and thunder shook the house and showered it in rain. Len stood up, and slowly walked towards the window.. Feeling it's glass.
The glass was really cold and had a wet feeling almost.
He pressed his eyes up against it, looking up at the dark clouds covering the sky completely, showering it's tears all over the little town. They didn't get much rain in Florida.
Len stared at his feet and closed his eyes, still feeling the cold window. He breathed in a slow pattern.
Suddenly...
His breathing stopped.
His heart feel like it just sunk and fell into his shoes.
His eyes shot open as he turned around, seeing his little sister. For, she had scared the living crap out of him.
