Hey. Number two guys. I don't think this is as good as the other. Feels a bit clunky to me. Anyway...
'It's big!' That was Daniel's first thought on that dismal Thursday morning. He was in a shitty place right now. Dealing with awful heartbreak, thank you Charlie Martin. He'd been played, you could say, like a fiddle. He'd had his whole life uprooted and he'd moved a town over. This was his new school: Saint Edward's. And it was big. From the campus' entrance, he could see 5 or so buildings, each 2-5 stories tall, even! His old school, Jonathan Bentley's Grammar School, was tiny in comparison with two two-story buildings only, though quite large ones. He looked down at the map matching the tallest, grey one with the English and maths block; he worked out the science complex, humanities, MFL etc. He could see on the piece of crinkled paper, blowing in the wind, there were 3 buildings he couldn't see, a large football field, 2 tennis courts and strangely enough, a mini skate park. This school was clearly big on sports and leisure then. Daniel needed to go to the reception building but he couldn't see it on the map. Well, just yet. The school was bloody massive!
"Well, hello there, child," came a very jolly, slightly-pompous voice. "My name is Isaac. Berkovitch, by the way. I've been elected by the form as the captain, because they all hate me enough to do that... I find it quite funny really! Anyway, all this means that I'm your official mentor and new best friend. You're going to need all the help that you can get I'm afraid."
Daniel matched the voice to a boy with a nest of black, curly hair. This was attached to a chubby face and medium-height body. Daniel thought Isaac was very cute, in a little brother kind of way. Daniel inwardly laughed at that, having put his finger right on it. He looked down at Isaac, him being larger though internally smaller, who was giving him a jokingly disappointed stare. "Look at you, checking me out! What? Surprised I know about... that? Don't worry, it's not obvious; I'm just amazing."
The taller boy stood, slightly amazed, but also disappointed the smaller of the two had guessed so quickly he was gay. His face fell to the floor in embarrassment, but also a quite inexplicable shame. "Hey there, don't look all despondent like a puppy. I'll tell you a secret, eh? I'm not actually, that, amazing," he continued with a hushed tone, "I just read your file. From your old school. And I know. Everything. About the bullying, and, well, I know about Charlie. And if you ever want to-"
"No," I was Daniel's first word and although timid seemed to say it all. It startled both boys though, "No thank you. I appreciate it though. Really. You can go now. I just about sussed where everything is and what's what. You wouldn't want to have your reputation dragged down."
"Nah, don't worry mate. I didn't exactly have one in the first place," he stood awkwardly, ringing his hands and swaying from side to side, "So, who've you got eyes for? By the way, all the hot ones are either in a relationship, homophobic dickheads or most probably both. I'm the only exception. I'm none of those things. And come on, you know I'm super stunning."
"You really are rather-"
"Talkative? Yeah, I know. Funny, I interrupted you," a smile flickered onto the boy's face as a small laugh escaped his dark, plump-lipped mouth.
"No actually. Well, yes really. You know what, you're just pompous..." there was a shocked silence, "Am I stunning too? Cause I stunned you? You're um... Anyway I've naturally made it worse. Sorry, I meant it to be joking but..." the loud silence that Daniel had unintentionally engineered was pierced by Isaac snickering, too loudly. It was clear to the taller of the pair, the short one'd been attempting and failing to keep a straight face.
"I like you, kiddo. I've decided you're now in leagues with the coolest dude in this school."
"Wait, where is he? And when's your birthday?"
"Haha! Très drôle; as the French would say. Speaking of, I've got it first so let's head in the opposite direction... What was I talking about? Oh yeah; it's August 13th. Why do you ask? When's yours?"
"Ha, I'm older! You can't call me 'Kiddo'. And I'd prefer not to say... I don't want gifts, fuss and definitely not attention so it's easier just not to. By the way, I accept the request to be your friend. Best and only, I assume."
"Yup, so let's see your timetable... Same direction... We've got a lot of talking and bonding to do in the mean-time. The long way will take all of first period... Sorry, I'm getting distracted a lot. I've got lots on my mind, because, I'm just so smart you know... And it's my twin sisters' birthday tomorrow. What to get two massive divas eh? ANYWAY, what I meant to say is like, really whose got your attention? I mean, I wanna help out my GBF, bro..."
"Um..." this took me by surprise as I'd thought I'd successfully evaded it earlier. At first glance, I saw a cute one, in a rugged way, someone who was actually taller than him. The hair could be improved but his chest was quite distracting. I pointed, "the tall one."
Isaac's laugh came instantly, "Oh Daniel; that's hilarious. You're so barking up the wrong tree. His name's Harry and he's the most homophobic douche out there..." I looked down feeling slightly disappointed. I remembered my reason for buttoning my mouth. "So..."
"What?"
"I'm not satisfied with you giving up so easily. We need to find you a boyf as my circle of friends is us. We need help in that department, eh... Come on; quickly. I've decided skipping the first lesson of the year wouldn't actually be that good of a start." Daniel looked around, not actually caring, or expecting to find anyone even remotely appealing. He was pretty sure Charlie'd broken his attraction receptors. He was startled to find his cheeks rapidly brightening into a fiercely flaming scarlet, owing to an average-height boy of long, bouncy blond curls wearing a frayed plaid shirt and impossibly tight black jeans. The only bad thing Daniel could find about this magical wonder-boy was the scantily-clad slut sprawled across him.
"So, Jonah then... What're you thinking?"
"He's... He's gorgeous!"
