"Holy shit Rey what the fuck happend!" I saw hysterically looking back at my home that is getting smaller the farther we drive.
"Can you not yell at me!"
She screams tears flowing down her cheeks and her voice breaking.
"I'm sorry, I just want you to know you had all the right to stick that knife in his hand."
"This is all just so fucked."
She smashed het hand against her steering wheel still upset by the attack.
"You want me to drive?"
I ask calmly laying my hand on her shoulder. She nods and parks the car on the side of the road. We step out of the car and switch seats.
"It's going to be fine Rey."
Normally I would be freaking out, crying like a baby because I didn't know what to do next but now I do. Somehow it feels like Rey and I have bedn together for years as if we never parted as if the years she was gone never existed. I call Dex before starting the car to drive off to anywhere but here.
"Hello?"
"Hey Dex, remember when you told me I could use that cabin you have at lake Michigan."
"Yeah..."
"You want to make a roadtrip?"
Rey looks at me no longer sad or angry but excited and curious, a flicker of love shines in her eyes.
"When do you want to go?"
"I'll be at your place in half an hour, do you still have my emergency bag?"
"Packed and ready."
"Awesomesauce see you in a few oh and Dex."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"No problem Charlie."
We hang up the phone and I start the car.
"Emergency bag?"
Rey asks suspiciously looking at me confused.
"Was planning to leave home a long time ago."
"Why'd you stay."
I think hard about that question. If someone had asked me that two days ago I wouldn't have been able to answer.
"Something held me back."
I stare at Rey for a while and then turn my sight back on the road stoll her hazel eyes in my mind.
"After last night I know what it was or I think I know. I think it's you."
"What about me?"
"I don't know, the way we connected... everything just seemed to fall in place."
"I know what you mean, it felt as if we were two seperate puzzle pieces so diffrent yet when connected we created a beter picture."
I take in Rey's words and repeat them slowly.
"Since when did you become such a poet."
"Hush it nerd, I bet you still collect books as if they are free candy."
I chuckle, she hasn't changed a bit. I still can't believe how amazing she looks, I wouldn't have recognized her but just her eyes told me it was her. At first they were the eyes of a demon to me but now I see the angel that has risen and God is she gorgeous.
"It's still an obsession yes so we gotta go back for my books."
"You're shitting me right."
I laugh and she starts laughing too. Just the sound of her cute laugh makes me feel less bad about leaving home.
"You know what the weirdest part is."
She takes my hand and our fingers intertwine as if they were made for each other.
She takes a deep breath and continues.
"That it doesn't even feel as if 7 years passed. It's as if those years never happend."
"You still see me as a 12 year old girl that's kind of gross."
She releases my hand and throws her hand in the air chuckling.
"You are disgusting and such a mood killer damn."
"I know but in all seriousness, you have no idea how good it feels to see you again."
I give her a peck on her cheek and she starts blushing, the way her cheeks turn a warm soft pink as she tries to hide it by pulling her hair in front of it makes my heart do flips.
"You're blushing."
I say poking her side. She pushes my hand away and rolls her eyes.
"I don't blush. It was the sun shinning on my skin from a specific angle that made my cheeks look redder than they actually are."
"Okay proffesor Milton."
"Ha-Ha still funny."
I smile softly and take her hand again.
We arrive at Dex his house. He's waiting on his porch wearing his luberjack coat and a tight white shirt. Of course his hair is perfect and a bright smile that never seems to fade.
He notices the car and takes two duffel bags from behind him.
I step out the car to greet him and Rey stays inside.
I hug him and he freezes when he sees Rey.
"Is that."
"I'll explain later but yeah we made up... and made out."
His jaw drops and he keeps moving his eyes from Rey to me.
"So this morning... Oh God I don't even want to think about it."
"Details will follow in the cabin get in the car gay boy."
He opens the trunk of the car and gives me a sassy look.
"It's mister gay boy for you."
We chuckle as we get in the car. Dex is always the one you should go to with a problem. He's so innocent and pure although his killer looks would say something else.
"Hey I'm Dex. Outrageously gay and fake boyfriend."
He shakes Rey's hand who seems genuinly happy meeting Dex.
"Rey, Jedi knight and Charlie's personal lesbian."
"So how long are we going to be stuffed in this car."
"4-5 days."
"Days!"
Dex exclaims.
"Dex Lake Michigan is on the other side of the country."
"I know but ugh days locked up in a car with lesbians."
"Shut up and watch a show on your phone or something, I know you downloaded a bunch of keeping up with the Kardashians episodes."
Rey raises an eyebrow and turns to Dex in the backseat.
"Really?"
"They are interesting okay!"
He says while putting in his earphones.
"I like him."
Rey whispers when Dex his attention is fully on his phone.
Two of the most influential people in my life are going on a roadtrip with me. The girl I have secretly always loved and the boy I could be myself with. Both of them have had a huge impact on my life, I wouldn't want anyone else in this car now.
