Chapter 8

Ty's POV

"What a dick. Hey asshole I was talking to you." I say in a high voice mimicking her. Was that at all childish? Oh definitely. I start to make my way through the now semi crowded park filled with children, dogs, and people on dates.... Ew.

As I start my walk home, I hear large pounding footsteps that resemble elephants behind me. I turn my head and look only to see Dane running with a huge smile on his face.
"Get movin Ty!" He says as he runs past me. I turn back around and run with him. Once I catch up I start laughing a little.

"What the hell did you do to piss of Connor?" I ask as I look back and see Connor and his group of idiots still following us.
"He was talkin shit about you so I put a dead rat in his locker." He says with a smirk.

I let out a laugh and take an intake of breath when I feel a sharp pain in my back.
"Son of a bitch!" I say as I slow down. Dane notices and pulls me along.
"Just a little more till we reach a house." He says as we approach a subdivision.

We start making lefts and rights and eventually lose them when we find someone's side gate open. We quickly run in and hide and we hear them run through the grass on the other side of the fence.

"Where the hell did they go?!" Connor yells to his group. As their footsteps start to fade I release the breath I didn't know I was holding before I start cracking up. As I hold my side and hunch over my back decides now would be a good time to be on fire.

I scream in pain but it's muffled by Dane's hand. We hear the door open to the back yard of the house and our eyes go wide. Dane peaks around the corner and his eyes bug out.
"Ok suck it up cuz we got a guy in a military uniform out here." He says helping me up.

"Who's out here?" The military guy asks. We quietly make our way out of the fence when we hear footsteps start walking around the yard towards us and we hurry up.
"HEY!" The guy yells. I turn my face around and my eyes bug out.

We start to run yet again but my back doesn't let me. I drop down on my knees and hold my back.
"TY!" Dane yells stopping to help me. A shadow stands over me and Dane.
"What were you two boys doing in my yard?" He asks crouching down by me.

Dane clears his throat and I groan in pain while Dane helps me up.
"Sir we didn't mean to go in your yard. These guys were chasing us and we saw the gate was open so we ran in to hide. We weren't going to do anything I can assure you that." Dane says while letting me lean on him. I look up and meet the mans blue grey eyes starring daggers at me.

"Aren't you the guy that scored the last point at that game? Why do you look so familiar?" He says studying my face. I look down and he takes a sharp intake of breath.
"Tyler. Tyler Baxter!" He says with a smug smirk. He rubs his chin, which needs to be shaved, and tilts his head.

"What's up with your back? You pull a muscle or something?" He asks. I nod slowly and he pats my back making me wince. He notices and confusion crosses his face as well as concern.
"That's no pulled muscle...?" He says taking his hand back.

"I umm messed up my shoulder?" I said with a hint of confusion. He raises an eyebrow and nods.
"Ok then. Well, I suggest you get it looked at." He says turning around and walking away. I release the breath I was holding and so does Dane.

"Oh and by the way, don't think I don't remember what happened freshman year." He says before walking into his house. I raise my eyebrow and start thinking. What is this guy talking about? Do I even know him? I mean he obviously knows me. Why does he look so familiar?

Ez's father. Well shit.

At least I know where she lives now.

I'm brought out of my thoughts by a slap on my face. I hold my cheek and slowly turn my face with a scowl on my lips to see Dane giving a nervous smile.
"You weren't answering me?" He says before laughing. I roll my eyes and he helps me as we start to walk.
