"ma!" a little girl shouted with excitement, "look a puppy! and he's purple! can we keep him?"
"sweetie, you know we can't have a dog. your father is allergic." the mother sighs, she hates turning her daughter down, but has to.
"but he's homeless and always comes here! see he has no collar" the child picks up mr skittles and rushes over to her mom.
"he's obviously not, ella. the fur was dyed with a expensive dye. im sorry sweetie"
"poo!" she puts the pup down, who does not enjoy that. he stands on his back legs trying to be held again, whimpering. "i'm sorry mr skittles. ill see you tomorrow!" she giggles at the name mr skittles, she made it up on the spot. it works tho!
ella, the 10 year old girl with the pretty long brown hair thats always in a ponytail and gorgeous brown eyes left with her mother, smiling that beautiful smile that lights up the whole world.
that memory rewinds in skittle's mind over and over again, on repeat everytime he looks for ella. that was about 2 years ago, she recently stopped coming about 6 weeks ago.
that day was sad, ella was almost in tears when she first saw him then; they didnt play, she just hugged him and patted his head and rubbed his ear just the way he liked it. she fed him his favorite types of treats (the ones she always brought after the first day she had met him, they were peanut butter bones), but when she was out she got up, that's when the tears really started to come. she kissed his little snout, he licked her nose to comfort her, he felt as if it were the right thing to do. she left with her mother, and a man next to her; most likely her father.
but mr skittles knows she'll be there today! its going to be a good day!
