Taken from the journal of the deceased Elaine Marilyn Masslow:
Time: 6:47am, 3/1/14
Location: Living RoomToday was a special day, that ended in burning flames, the family was going on a trip. We were going to Outer Banks, for spring break. I woke up to the sound of the alarm clock, at 6 am. I rolled over to see my husband, Joseph, squirming at the sound of the alarm. I kissed his forehead and went on with getting ready, I would let me him sleep for thirty more minutes only because he had a long day of driving ahead of him. So I went to the kitchen and grabbed my favorite protein bar and orange juice and slammed them both down very quickly so I could get ready with some extra time left over to get Morgan and Emily out the door quickly.
Time: 7:48am 3/1/14
Location: In the car, on the way to Outer Banks
After I finally got Morgan to get up, by sending Emily in Morgan's room to annoy her.
Note to self: Morgan out of bed = annoyances from Emily.
So after an argument between the girls, I had sent the two to put the luggage I had packed the night before in the trunk of the car.
The girls and Joseph had pancakes, eggs and bacon for breakfast. I stole a couple of pieces of bacon off of Joseph's plate.
The girls brushed their teeth while Joseph got dressed, then they switched actions. While the girls were getting dressed, Joseph came into the living room, looking at me all weird. Then started kissing me, Emily saw us and screamed "Ewwwwwwww!!!", then jumped on Joseph's back. I smiled and went and took Morgan's phone away from her. She has been texting that boy for awhile now. She had been texting him 24/7 for months now.
I've met both of his parents at the grocery store, from what I've been told he talks very highly of her. It's adorable. I'm thinking about talking with Joseph about finally letting her go on her first date, I would like her first date to be with a gentleman, it seems like Matthew is that. He makes good grades, and is very respectful. He never leaves my daughter hanging, he calls and texts, which is a rarity. I never see kids call each other, they also FaceTime. Only when both parents have ok'ed it though.
Anyways, we have been on the road for maybe thirty minutes. What the kids don't know, is that there grandparents have recently moved to North Carolina, so we will be staying with them for two weeks, which is great for one kid, not so great for the other. My parents and Morgan have never gotten along, well that's not entirely true. They got along when it was ONLY her, the Emily came along and their relationship went to shit. I've talked to Morgan about it, she says it doesn't bother her, but that's not the case. At all, I've heard and read her crying to her friends about it. I feel horrible about it.
Time: 1:00 pm 3/1/14
Location: Still on the road, headed to Outer Banks
The kids are asleep, and Joseph and I have been talking about just random stuff. Music, books, how much homework Morgan has. You know, usual married life conversations. Well, we're about to stop for gas, and maybe a pretzel.
Morgan has been Facetiming her boyfriend, she said that she missed five texts and two calls from him. I don't get it, boys at this age shouldn't be this, I don't know how to explain it. Clingy? Protective? I don't think he's clingy, I don't understand kids at this age. As I write this, it makes me feel like an old ass lady.
