Hi guys, just a little note for everyone. This is my first book and I'm doing my best to check my writing for errors but if anyone comes upon an error feel free to comment and let me know! I know the first chapters short and doesn't give much away but I'm working towards that. Anyway, enjoy<3

Today I was moving, I would be starting off my Junior year completely new and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Sighing, I finished packing the thousands of books I own. I began to head downstairs with the box in my arms to tell my mom everything was ready to be loaded to the moving truck when I stopped at the mirror that was still hanging. The town I live in was small and almost everyone knew me for my pale complexion, freckles, and dark red hair. I've always been quiet, keeping to myself and I had just recently lost my only friend, Belle, who had left for college just weeks before now. My gray-green eyes stared back at me in the mirror as I daydreamed about what it would be like to attend a larger school like Northwood high, the school I will be intending in just three short days. "SUTTON" my mother yelled pulling me from my daze, " coming mom!" I yell back and continue down the stairs, box in my arms. I set the box by the rest in the living room and stroll into the kitchen to find my mom. When I find her she's talking to one of the movers about fragile boxes. When she sees Sutton she says " Its almost time to go kiddo, Ethan is almost home from saying goodbye to his friends. Are you ready?" "Yes Mom" I reply and look to a moving guy, who is fairly tall and definitely a little handsome despite that he looks to be in his later twenties and say " there's one more mirror on the wall upstairs and a book shelve in my room and I think that's it." the man nods an okay and is off to finish bringing things onto the truck with the rest of the crew. My mom has a weird look on her face and asks "since when did you become so confident talking to people?" Realizing that I had just done that I suddenly look at my mom with the same confused expression she wore. " I'm really not sure mom. I was more talking to you than him." As I say that Ethan walks through the door, smelling like smoke. Well at least I know what friends he went to see. Ethan is my older brother, he's a year older than me and we're not really close. It happened when Dad left out of the blue, it's also why were moving away. My mom says " good Ethan you're home! We gotta leave now if we wanna get there before dark." Ethan grunts an okay and nods my way as a greeting. " I have all my stuff so I'm going to go wait in the car." I say to my mom as I grab my phone and bag. "Me too" Ethan says and follows me out to sit in the car. After we get it I get up the nerve to ask my brother if he's been smoking again. "Ethan...you haven't been smoking again have you?" He looks at me blankly and says " it was just one for the road Sutton, don't get your panties in a twist" I scoff to my brother, knowing he'll get angry if I pry. Eventually, my mom gets in the car and it looks like she's took down her brown hair and she looks younger, she looks maybe 40 not her just barely 50 age. She looks at the two of us and says " ready for a change guys? Here we come North wood." The small smile on her face hiding her nervousness is see through for me. She doesn't know what she's doing but then again none of us do. I plop in my headphones and ready myself for the 4 hour journey, putting on "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" by Iron & Wine and humming along as my mom starts the car and drives.
