Chapter 4

James POV

'Um can't I've got to do... homework' I replied. 'Homework? Jamie Brooklyn Bryce doing homework?' He asked. 'Yeh' I say as I quickly pace away from him.

I went to the balcony just to think about what I just saw because the balcony is one place where I can concentrate. Should I ask him what they were talking about or will he think I was ears dropping.

Ugh I can't think straight right now. What could they be planning that they don't want anyone to know about?

'Hey' from a voice that makes me smile. It was Lauren. 'Hey' I replied. 'Why didn't you go to our lunch table?' She asked with a confused face.

'Oh um I forgot?' I replied. 'Really? You forgot? That's not like you, something's up' She said. 'Are you coming over to my house this Wednesday?' I ask her. 

'What for?' She replied with a confused look on her face. Is she serious? It's my birthday. She is my best friend she is supposed to remember my birthday. 

'Oh never mind' I say. 'Okay' she replied. My 17th birthday and she doesn't remember. 

'Can you come over to my house on Wednesday?' She asks me. 'Sure' I replied. Maybe she is planning a surprise party at her house. I wonder if Justin's coming. 

But her face was confused like she didn't know what was going on. I don't know what to think right now.

The bell rang and I went downstairs. I went to my next classroom. I have Sport next my favorite subject. 

It's with Justin. I might be able to talk to him. I need to ask him if anything is going on between him and Lauren.

I want to ask him something but he is bad at keeping secrets. When he tries to keep a secret from someone then he ignores that person incase he blurts it out.

For some reason, he is ignoring me. Is he keeping a secret from me? I bet it is that he is dating Lauren. He should just tell me.

When I make eye contact with him and smile he looks away. I don't get what is with him. 

We never keep secrets from each other. 

Justin got captain for chair ball. So he could choose who he wants on him team. I am waiting for him to say my name so I am on his team but it didn't get called. I am on the opponent's team. 

I am not that pissed because the last time he did ignored me it was because he was giving me trying to keep a secret from me. But by the end of the day, he always blurts it out to me. 

So I just wait and do nothing.

Our team one and we had our water break. 'Ay Justin' I say as Justin glances over his shoulder then turns back around continuing to walk off.

'Why are you ignoring me bruh?' I shout as he paces faster.

'STOP' I yell as he stops and faces me. I run towards him and say 'thank you.' 

'Why are you ignoring me mate?' I ask as his face becomes blank. He stares at me for a while then turns around and runs back to the field.

This is unusual. He must really be trying then. Why doesn't he just tell me that he is dating Lauren? 

The bell rang
