Lucy was rolling around in the grass the fresh smell lingering in her senses. But most of all she remembered her mom and dad laughing and smiling at each other.
The love in their eyes was so noticable any one could see it.
That's why Lucy didnt understand what happened.
One day, a few months later while she was playing with her dolls, all she could hear was the screaming coming from downstairs.
She put her hands over her ears trying the block out the sound of the yelling. They just kept screaming.
She rocked herself back and fourth willing herself not to cry. Dad said she was a big girl.
I guess 7 wasn't big enough Not to cry. She felt the tears slip down her face. She wasn't a big girl now and she never was.
Lucy heard footsteps pounding up the stairs. Then the footsteps going back down.
All she heard was the slam of the door and the screech of tires as the car drive down our road, never to come back.
All Lucy wanted was to remember was that day at the park.
When all she saw was love in their eyes but all she was left was a broken father who was never the same, and a mother who left without looking back.
