I trudged into my bedroom and flung myself onto my soft pink sheets. I plugged my phone in and turned on the TV. I looked through the channels, not really paying any attention.
A light drizzle started outside and I could hear the pitter patter of the raindrops falling on my window. My phone buzzed and I looked to find a text from my mom:
Mom🌷: Come downstairs I have to talk to you.
Me: kk

She was probably going to ask me about dinner and make me go drive in the rain to get something. I made my way down our steps and saw my father standing in our living room.
"Dad?!!" I said, confused.
"Hey sweetie," he smiled. "Nice to see you." My mother still stood at his side like an obedient puppy. Sometimes it got on my nerves, she knew why he left.
My mom motioned to the couch for me to sit down.
"Your father came by so we could talk about your camping trip," she exclaimed. "Your father and I agree that it would be good to have a little fun trip in order to socialize and have an exciting experience."
My eyes got wide and a huge grin spread across my face.
"Oh my God!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" I jumped up and down in excitement. I gave my parents a hug and ran upstairs to tell my friends that I could go.
Me: GUYS!
Coby🐼: Yeah?
Melissa👑: What's up girly?
Me: My parents said yes!! I can goooo!!
Coby🐼: YAY
Melissa👑: Woo!!
Zachary👻: Yaaas!
Melissa👑: We leave Friday afternoon, once school's out. Do you want me to come over and help you pack now?
Me: Yeah sure that'd be great!

*One hour later*
Melissa showed up at my door not to long after with a huge bag and a list about a mile long. I gave her a hug and we dashed up the stairs.
"Okay so what will I need on this trip?" I asked, knowing that Melissa had already thought everything out.
"Well, you see Bry, we'll be there for 2 and a half days. This means we're going to need a small suitcase or a duffle bag. Got one of those?" she explained.
"Uhh, yeah I think so." I rummaged through my closet and pulled out a blue with white lace duffle.
"Cute!"
"Thanks, my mom got it for me not too long ago."
"Okay well pack a few shirts and pants. Oooh, and good shoes!"
I ended up putting in a few plain shirts of different colors and jeans that felt comfy in my bag.
"C'mon Brynn," Melissa rolled her eyes, "you're gonna need more than that."
"Why? It's not a 5 star hotel...." I laughed
"Yeah, I know, but what if there's a lake or we get all muddy and need some extra clothes?"
"Touché." We giggled.
I put in 2 swimsuits, a couple jackets and sweatshirts, and stocked up on my makeup and toiletries.
"Will I need a pillow? Blankets?" I asked Melissa who was staring down at her phone, texting furiously.
"Oh, uh, yeah. Don't forget a book or something."
I asked where we would be sleeping and she said tents or our cars, depending on the weather. I had to pack warm and cool? "Just incase!" as Melissa had said.
I blew my brown hair out of my face and Melissa flung a hair tie at me.
"Put it up, it's cuter when you do those messy high ponytails." I obeyed.
Not too long after I had finished packing, the guys showed up and my door and we all walked to the park to chat about our trip.
