I M S U R V I V O R
I was there when everything began
I was there when the social tension
Exploded into social revaluation
When the oppressed became oppressor
Family lost their loved ones
Fathers and mothers forsaking
Their own children to death to save the rest.
Not forgotten hatred between brothers and sisters.
When trusted neighborhood turn against you
husbands couldn't careless to save their own
Only because of their racial and ethnical classification
What a shame! I was so young and innocent
But what I saw?
I saw a river that once was my well, turned into Blood River
A road once was my way to school turned into military station
Ma backyard become graveyard
A place I once called playground turn into battlefield
A place that was my refuge, my sanctuary become
A place of torture, slaughter, a butchery.
A man with torn and broken heart become powerless,
A fatherless so hopeless with grief and despair that drove him to suicide.
A brave and proud one fighting like a soldier, yet dying as a child.
Not mentioning mother sacrifice their own life to save a child
Mourning day and night full of envy and agony
Exposed to death and horror everyday
Then I heard silence of death for a moment.
Yet thunders and bullets was just as if it had hailed
My homeland that once flowed with milk and honey
Become a home of sadness full of hollow and sorrow
I raced up on the high mountain in search of shelter
To look back down from a view! I saw storm clouds
Gathering with blowing mighty wind in the sky
The beautiful sunset was no more only darkness
As I gazed at it falling down on my fathers land
There was weeping, gnashing of teeth, torture and much affliction.
My soul was troubled to see
My homeland vanish away
My heart breeding inside out for
There was no way back home
I smelled death was in its way
My heart pounding like a chook
Who's just missed by an Eagle
So I ran never to turn back.
