St. Petersburg, Russia
1200 Hours, July 23rd, 2018
Noon Had just struck causing the sun to beat down on every nook and cranny of the once densely populated city. Buildings that held thousands of people were left to stand without occupants. Silence consumed the streets that used to be buzzing with the sound of cars and people talking on their way to their jobs. These people would live their life, going to work, coming home to their families, sleeping in their own bed. Until now.
St. Petersburg, Russia
1200 Hours, July 23rd, 2017
Jennifer Martha smiled as she had her lunch break with one of her co-workers. They both decided to stop by one of the local coffee shops that was near the office building they both worked at. The sight was the same as usual, tall buildings that usually casted a dark shadow around the city now only gave off a small shade being that the sun was directly above them. Two women at a coffee shop, sipping their beverages while wearing the typical Russian summer attire, jeans and long sleeve t-shirts. Their suits hung neatly on the chairs they sat in. Both women spoke in Russian.
"How is your department doing Denise?" Jennifer asked as she took one more sip of her jasmine scented coffee.
"Good. We are making much more progress now that Donny is gone. How about you? I've been hearing a lot of chatter about you Jen." Denise drank her coffee black.
Jennifer looked confused but smiled. "You have now? What sort of chatter?"
"Oh just the fact that somebody overheard the boss saying that nobody is more fitting for the V.P. job than you!"
Jennifer put her coffee down and gasped. "He said that? I don't know Denise, can I really replace Donny?"
"Why of course! You are so hardworking! There isn't anybody who works as hard as..." Denise was interrupted by a man who rudely bumped her chair. He was running awfully fast. "The nerve of some people!" But before she could continue, she was interrupted again, this time by screaming. Several people were screaming from the street behind her. More and more people started to run in their direction.
"What is going on over there?" Jennifer asked. She pointed to the intersection the screaming came from. There was a large crowd of pedestrians as usual and just as she pointed the crowd began to panic and run in their direction just as the previous people had done. "Denise?" Denise was stunned at what she could see past the moving bodies. She got up quickly, grabbed her purse, and turned the other way and ran in the direction most people were running. "Denise!" Jennifer stood and looked back at the intersection. She still couldn't see what was happening past the people running toward her so she stood and walked closer. People were panicking and running past her until everybody was further down the road than her, leaving her standing alone in the intersection. Jennifer screamed. Crouching in the middle of the street was a man in what looked to be an old torn suite. He was covered in blood, the red showing clearly all over the white clothing on his back. But she doubted it was hit blood for he was fondling someone on the ground with his hands. Whoever was on the ground had to have been dead, a large pool of blood grew around the young girl. The man was ripping parts of flesh off her body and deliberately putting the slices of meat in his mouth.
Jennifer wanted to scream but she couldn't, she wanted to move but she couldn't. All she could do was stand there and watch as the man ate the little girl lying in the street. Her eyes still open showing the fear she must have experienced when the man attacked her. He turned to look at Jennifer. She finally found the ability to react. And she screamed. The man stood, a piece of the girl's hand hung from his mouth. He gave a blood hurdling cry that sprayed crimson liquid all over the street in front of Jennifer, and he started to walk towards her. Jennifer screamed again, echoing all around the street. She turned around to run but her heels didn't let her get far without tripping. She stumbled and fell on the asphalt. The man jumped on her and in spite of her screams of horror and pain from the fall, he sunk his teeth into her neck. Jennifer didn't feel it, she thrashed on the ground trying to get up and felt something wet soak her back. It was her blood. The man was pinning her down, restricting any movements she could make. He took another bite, this time from her shoulder. Jennifer screamed again, an ear splitting scream. She cried and screamed as the man continued to rip off pieces of the wound and eat them. She turned her head and saw people running after her, but she was too scared to see that they were people, drenched in the blood of others. More people, women, men, children, jumped on her and continued the same actions the man did. She fell silent quickly.
Denise watched from down the road as she ran with the crowd. She was crying intensely at the horror she just witnessed. She pulled her phone out of her purse and called the police. "Hello, this is the authorities, what is your emergency?"
Denise heard more screaming and the people in the front of the crowd changed direction and started running in the opposite direction. People covered in crimson liquid ran towards them on both sides, they were trapped in the narrow city street.
The first and last thing the lady in the police station heard on the other line was "Zombted! Zombted!"
Zombies.. Zombies...
