"Asshhhh..." I called into my phone.
"What? What's up?" Ashlyn responded.
"So Jamal invited me to breakfast this morning." I sighed approaching the red light.
"Andddd?? Come on bitch, I know your skanky ass went." Ashlyn laughed.
I laughed and applied my deep cherry stain in the mirror.
"I was hungry, shit!" I proceeded through the intersection as the light turned green.
"But nah, really. This man is crazy. He wants to hook up at lunch for the next 3 weeks. I'm like what is this? High school?" I shook my head and turned onto the company's street.
Ashlyn was silent.
"Hello?" I spoke.
"You agreed didn't you?" She sounded like she resented me.
"No. I didn't say anything."
"But....you're on your way to work right?" She questioned.
"Look, I gotta go. I'm pulling up to the security gate."
Ashlyn is my bestfriend but, I can't take what she has to say before I go to work.
"Aite." Ashlyn hung up and I pulled up to the gate.
"Good Morning Henry." I greeted the security officer as I handed him my badge.
"Good Morning, Miss Eva." Henry gave me a sweet smile and swiped my ID Badge.
Henry has a crush on me. I know because he always sends me flowers, gives me parking passes and asked me on a date a few weeks ago.
"You ever want to take me up on my offer again Miss Eva, I will be more than happy to take you out. You deserve the world."
See, if Jamal was this sweet, I'd have no issues. But, his sex makes up for that.....I'm awful.
"Henry, I will definitely consider it okay?" I received my badge and continued through the garage.
••••••••••••••••••••
"Ms. Henderson. Mr. Yates would like to see you in his office." The secretary Yolanda said as I got off the elevator. "Oh and Good Morning, love that top and shoes as usual."
"Thank you Yolanda...but could you call Mr. Yates back and tell him I can't..I have a meeting." I smiled and knew the teeth clench Jamal was bound to have.
I continued to my small office and slipped into my slippers. I had an envelope on my desk...the writing was Jamal's handwriting.
It read: Open..and 12:00 sharp.
He's not very discrete. Which is an even better reason on why I can't do this. Inside the envelope was a room key with a sticky note attached to it.
Hyatt, 1075.
I rolled my eyes and turned to my computer. I began working until I heard a knock at the door.
"Come in." I didn't turn away from my computer.
I heard heels so I knew it wasn't Jamal. I turned away from the computer and to my surprise...it was Tracy, Jamal's fiancé.
"Hi! Eva is it?" She smiled and came to shake my hand.
"Yes...yes ma'am." I stood up out of my chair.
"I feel so silly about this...but, I'm Mr.Yates fiancé, Tracy and my best friend is Yolanda..."
Thank God, she's going to ask about something Yolanda related.
"And..she told me that you are an absolute fashionista and I just had to meet you. You are very pretty as well...wait...are you the intern Jamal pretty much hired on spot?" She let out a giggle.
"Uhm, yes I am."
"Oh well good, look how about we go out for dinner, you, me, Jamal and a male friend of yours...so we can talk about where it is you shop."
What the fuck?
"Uhhmm...I don't see why that.."
And with out warning, Jamal made his entrance.
"Baby? What are you doing here?" Jamal grabbed Tracy around the waist and kissed her on the cheek.
She loved him. I could tell by the way her face lit up under her freckles.
"I was just coming to see about this Eva that Yolanda keeps talking about."
Jamal fixed his eyes on me and since he was across from me and beside Tracy...his eyes went from my face..to my breasts, and to my hips.
"Oh, okay well Eva, I heard you cancelled our meeting for this morning." Jamal put his hands in his pockets.
"No, not cancelled. Postponed." I smiled and grabbed a pen and glanced at my calendar. "And....the meeting for us is tomorrow, anyhow." I laughed to reassure Tracy that there was nothing going on.
"Really?...Today is the..25th I thought." He questioned.
"Nope. It's the 24th." The pause became awkward so Tracy stepped in.
"So, I'll just go to your office and let you to get this sorted out." Tracy slid past Jamal making sure she rubbed him the.."right"...way.
When she left and closed the door behind her, Jamal immediately shifted gears.
"Why the hell was she here?" He folded his arms over his chest.
"She told you." I answered simply.
"Eva, don't play games with me. Why the hell was my fiancé in your office?!"
I rolled my eyes and sat down."Would you calm down? She told you. And that is all, she surprised me."
He swiped his hand over his face and sat in a client chair.
"You still coming later right?"
I didn't say anything. I continued browsing through my email.
"Eva."
I raised my eyebrow.
"Sir?" I responded.
"Are you still coming later?" His voice was stern now.
"Well, I could try and pencil that in. But, I have so much work to do."
