School.
The one place where any and everyone can judge you. I HATE everything about it. Being stuck in a classroom full of people I want to kill and a teacher to annoy me. The worst part isn't even the cafeteria food. No. That can’t compare to what Miss Pennington's School for the Naturally Gifted does to you. Well, other than turn you into a zombie. I'm talking about uniforms. Pleated skirts, oxford shirts, and a tie. So maybe it isn't THAT bad, but you have two color choices. PINK or black. I'm literally the only girl in school who wears the black uniform. And yes. It IS an all girls school.
And besides. I hate the morning routine. Wake up early. Shower. Get dressed. Do hair. Put on eyeliner. Slip on converse and arm warmers. Wait for 7:30. Walk to school. Get judged and tormented for seven hours. Go home. Repeat next day. It’s horrible. But this year, I hope it'll be worth it.

I roll over to turn off my alarm clock. My hand desperately searches for it. Where did it go? Then I remember I moved it across my room. I slowly drag myself out of bed and across the room to hit the off button. Once it’s finally turned off, I head straight for my bed, hoping to sleep for a little longer.
I lay under the covers for a few minutes. I finally decide to give up on trying to sleep. Another year of hell begins today, I thought.
“ALEX! GET UP! I HAVE BEEN CALLING YOU FOR 30 MINUTES! YOU’RE GOING TO BE LATE!”
“I AM UP MOM!”
“DON’T TALK BACK TO ME LITTLE GIRL.”
Sigh. I look at the clock. It’s 6:34. I decide to go take a shower.
A few minutes later, I emerge from the bathroom and enter my room. I decide to wear my black skinnies and a vest. It’s times like this when I’m glad my mother will stop at nothing to get her way. The day she found out I had to wear a skirt; she marched up to the head minister’s office and told her that she will not donate 40,000 dollars a year to the art program if her daughter had to wear a skirt. A pink one at that. The art program is very valuable to the school (it’s ranked #2 in the world) and my mother is their biggest donator. So the head mistress quickly changed the dress code to pink and black and that I am the only student who can wear pants.
I quickly get dressed and comb my short black and teal hair. Today I decide to skip the eyeliner and put on my white converse and arm warmers. I grab my backpack, iPhone, and lighter and go down the stairs.
Right as I reached the foot of the stairs, I can hear my mother yelling at my sister to get dressed. Every morning this is gonna happen I thought. I walk into the kitchen and grab a hot fudge sundae poptart. Right as I’m about to leave, I find my sister, Alice, looking for her shoes. I go over to her and whisper for her to have a good day. She hugs me and kisses my cheek. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
I put my earphones in and start blasting Pierce the Veil.
“BYE MOM.” Before I can get a reply, I close the door. The cold morning air hits me and I shiver. I start on the semi-long walk to school. It only takes about 30 minutes to walk and the bell rings at 8:20. On the way to school, I pass a few of my classmates and they snicker. I ignore them. There’s something different about today. I just know it.
As I enter the school, looks of hatred and disgust are thrown my way. I don’t let them get to me. I quickly make my way to my first class. I sit in one of the two vacant seats in the back row near the window. I pull out my sketch book and drawing pencils and start to doodle.
