The moment I look up, a girl in a black uniform waltzes in the door.
She's absolutely gorgeous.
Her dark brown hair flows to her shoulders. Eyes the perfect blend of blue green. Lips pink as a pale rose. A smile that could brighten up a room. Who is she?
She hands something to the teacher and proceeds to sit next me. She smells of roses and perfume. Her manicured fingers have little skulls on them. Her wrists are covered in various bracelets. Around her neck is a necklace in the shape of a teardrop.
I notice myself staring at her. I quickly return to the doodle I was working on. As I'm trying to clear my head, I hear her laugh. It's a laugh that will never leave your head. I look over at her to just in time to notice she's texting someone. I go back to my doodle. Finally the bell rings.
"Take your seats everyone. Welcome to English 11. I am Ms. Williams. I will now call role."
Great. Now I have to sit through this too. This is gonna be one BORING school year.
"Alex Oliver?"
Some girls giggle at my name. It's only because whenever they hear my name, they think of that stupid Australian model. Every time it irritates me. And every time I want to severely injure them. But I don't need as much trouble this year as I did last year.
"Here" I say quite monotone. I hate this class already.
"Ashley Vaughn?"
"Here" The voice of an angel. And it came from right next to me.
Ashley. Her name is Ashley. And I have a class with her.
-----
As the day droned on, I found myself constantly thinking about Ashley. Her hair, her eyes, even the way she walks. By the time lunch rolled around, I realized I have three other classes with her. Classical rock, Art II and Biology. And I sit near her in every class we have. I was on cloud nine.
The lunch bell rang and I headed to my favorite spot. The small clearing under a weeping willow near the gardens. The perfect place to relax and draw. As I headed down the hallway, I bumped into someone and fell flat in my ass.
Right as I was was about to get yell 'Watch where you're going!', I saw Ashely sitting on the floor next to me. I looked at her and she gave me some weird look. I exchanged one back. Then we both started laughing like maniacs.
"Dude are you O.K?" I asked still laughing.
"Ahaha I think so..." She remarked while trying to stand up
"Here let me help you up" I said while reaching for her hand. When our hands met, there was this strange sensation coursing through my veins. It was weird, but I liked it.
I picked up her books and papers. The paper on top was a drawing of a siren luring in soilders from battle. I handed Ashely her things.
"Thanks. I'm Ashley by the way." she said as she dusted herself off.
"Alex. Wanna hang out sometime?"
"I'd love too."
"Sweet. I know this really cool place that's peaceful. I was actually on my way there. Would you like to join me?"
"I'd love to.." Wait. What just happened?
"Let's go." I grabbed her hand and quickly guided her across campus to my secret place.
