The sun is finally rising, I didn't get any sleep at all. I quietly get out of bed and grab my clothes and battered up doc's. I change as quick and quietly as possible trying not to wake Tony in the process. Once I'm done I head straight out the door. Its spring but the Ohio weather sure as hell doesn't show it, its cloudy and the sun probably won't make an appearance for another week. It doesn't feel like spring at all. Its only 7 and no one seems to be up and about, its dead silence as I make my walk from Tony's beautiful brick house and into town. I pass by speedway and opt to get a coffee instead of my normal Dr. Pepper, I'll need all the fuel I can get today.

As I round the corner my house comes into view. Our house is okay, nothing compared to Tony's garden and two story brick house with their family's beautiful pool in the back. We live in a tiny one story town house identical to all the others on our street. As I open my front gate I notice the moving truck parked directly in front of the house next to ours. Number 32. Ours being 33. A couple emerges from the moving van, they must be about 40. The man sporting messy blond hair with streaks of gray. Hes quit tall and sports a bit of a chubbier build. His wife has beautiful long light brown curly hair, and a very slim build like she's all skin and bones. I watch as they walk into the house through the front gates identical to ours.

I notice something move from the corner of my eye. Looked back at the van I notice a boy about my age making his way towards me. Hes tall like his father, he has a muscular build, dirty blond hair. I notice once he's closer just how beautifully unique his eyes are, one is green and one is brown. He steps up to my gate just a few meters from where I'm standing, he looks like he's searching for the words to say, with a light crease in between his brows.

"Cole York." He says in a deep voice as he walks the rest of the distance between us and offers his hand.
"Kasey May." I reply looking at his strong jaw line and shaking his rough big hand before letting it go and adding quickly, "so what brings your family to Lowell." He seems nervous like his next answer is some big secret he shouldn't be telling someone he barely knows.

"A family matter." I'm a bit shocked by his answer, he doesn't clarify or add anything after that he just waves his hand at me while walking back to my front gate and goes to enter his own.

Once I'm inside I go straight to my room remove yesterday's clothes and stand in front of my big vintage style standing mirror. The bruises on my ribs are purple blue and yellow, some even green. I try not to stare at them for to long or I know I'll begin to break down and cry. Oops. I think as I realize to late that I'm sliding down my wall trying to stop my loud sobs. I don't want to wake mom. She should be up any minute. I think as I stop my muffed cries and make my way across my room still rubbing my eyes to wish the pain away.

I get to my closet and grab the first pair of jeans I find which happen to be my favorite. Their Levis that I decide to pair with my rolling stones t shirt and again my black Doc's like always. I sit on my vanity stool taking in my reflection, my mossy green eyes are now glossy like newly cut glass, my pale skin is even paler, my lips are swollen and my button nose is red and snotty. I decide against anything to time consuming and just brush my pin straight hair. Then put in some chap stick.

I have nothing to do today so I head out of the house to go for a walk and look through town. I open the front gate, take my phone and ear buds out as I walk slowly putting my music on shuffle.

"HEY! Watch where your go-" I'm cut off when I realize who it is I'm talking to and that I'm the one who ran into him. Cole.

"Sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going I was just going out for a walk around town I should really pay more attention." I try to apologize quickly going back to my walk.

"Hey!" He says tapping my shoulder. "Mind if i join? I haven't seen any of the town yet." He looks down at his feet then shyly adds "plus you seem pretty cool I could use a friend around here."

I think about how Tony would react to seeing me with a guy as handsome as Cole. But i quickly push that thought away because frankly I could use a friend too. "Sure." I say nodding my head as I start to walk towards the end of the street that leads to downtown.
