Living A Nightmare

Chapter 2

"Let's watch a horror!" Ava grins.
"How about...No!" I say crossing my arms.
"Awh is someone a scaredy cat!" She says pinching my cheeks.
"No" I say slapping her hands away.
"Awh does someone want Miles here so he can protect you from the monsters" She coos.

A faint blush comes to my cheeks when she mentions his name and her mouth drops open and a huge smirk comes to her face and she jumps up and she looks like she has something up her sleeve with the mischievous look in her eyes.

"Ava what are you-"
"Nothing" She grins.
"Ava" I say in a low voice.
"I will be back" She sniggers.

Ava grabs her shoes and she runs out of my room, I slap my head and groan. What is she up to? I stand with great difficulty and I limp out of my room and go down the stairs and open the front door and a cold breeze hits me and sends chills all down my body. I sigh and shut the door and limp back up the stairs.

I turn some music on and I start singing out loud...After a good few songs, I turn around and my face goes bright red as a tomato. In front of me stood Ava, Miles and Ava's older brother. I open my mouth to speak but no words come out, my mouth has gone as dry as the sahara desert.

"Nice singing" Dylan laughs.
"Miles you remember Adrianna" Ava says with a smug look on her face.
"Hey" He says awkwardly.


Say something! Adrianna say something, don't stand there looking dumbfounded.

"Blu" The only sound that comes out of my mouth...
"Blu?" Miles says trying not to laugh.


This is not happening! Why can't the floor suck me up and take me away from this awkward situation. I feel my face heat up even more and I do what I do best. I walk away and grab Ava hand on the way and we go into the hallway.

"Blu? Really out of all the words you could of said...You said blu? That's not even a word!" She laughs.
"Why...Why did you bring your brother ad him here?!" I yell and whisper.
"Well it's obvious you like him or want to be friends with him" She says in a duh tone.
"Not cool Ava...I've never even-"
"You will thank me in due time...My brother and him are really good friends" She winks.

Since when!

Ava turns away and I raise my hands and do a strangling motion wishing I could do that to her and maybe some common sense would seep to her brain! I bite my lip not wanting to go back inside after making an idiot of myself. I groan and limp back to my room and as go to open my door. The door swings open and I crash into a rock solid chest. I look up and it's Miles and he chuckles and I can't help but smile...Talk about embarrassing!

"Sorry if it was a surprise seeing me, I didn't know you would be here either" He says shutting the door behind him.
"Wait, you didn't know I would be here?" I say confused.
"Nope, Ava barged through the front door and literally dragged us out the door" He chuckles.
"Oh she did not" I mumble while rubbing my temples.
"It's okay though, she has only embarrassed you a little bit" He gently nudges me.
"I'm sorry about her, she is...She can be-"
"I know what you mean, now come downstairs, I've been told to get snacks and drinks" He grins.

I nod and I limp down the stairs and I lead him into my kitchen. Quietness falls between us and I reach up to the cupboard but wince in pain when my back stretches.

"Hey careful" Miles says placing his hand on my lower back and with his other hand he reaches into the cupboard and grab some snacks.
"Joe really hurt you didn't he?" He says in a bitter tone.
"No...It's not that bad, just a bruise" I lie.
"Lair" He whispers.

I ignore his comment and grabs the snacks and grin at him like nothing just happened and he raises his eyebrow at me and I shrug my shoulders.

"I... like food" I grin.
"I can see that" He smiles a sincere smile.
"The drinks should be in the fridge" I say walking over to the fridge.

I open the fridge and all the snacks fall out of my hands and onto the floor and my mouth drops and my bottom lip pouts. I bend down to pick the up but my head collides with someone else's head and I fall back.

"You really are falling for me aren't you Adrianna?" He says leaning over me and grins.

A blush comes to my cheeks as he says my name, it just sounded so...So-

"Adrianna" He says waving his hand in front of my face.
"Oh erm...Sorry" I sheepishly smile.
"Guys! Hurry up with the snack...How long does it take!" Ava whines.
"Coming!" I call out.


Miles holds his hand out and I take it with gratitude. I stand up and lose my balance and I almost fall again but Miles catches me and he swoops me up and shakes his head with a small smile.

"Are you purposely like this so I hold you or? -"
"No!" I say a bit too loud.
"Are you sure?" He taunts.
"Positive...I'm just a really clumsy girl" I murmur.
"I don't think I've ever met a girl like you before" He chuckles.

Miles stands me up and he picks up the snacks and he puts them on the counter and he grabs the bottles of fizzy drinks and my eyes are fixed on him and a small smile comes to my lips and I look down and snigger to myself.

"Something funny?" Miles says raising his eyebrow.
"Nope" I say like a mischievous child.
"Guys! Come on! My stomach sounds like a whale!" Ava yells.

Me and Miles look at each other and we burst into laughter and I hear footsteps stomp down the stairs and Ava looks at both of us and I bite my lip to stop myself from laughing at how she is acting. All goes silent and then in the midst of the silence comes a very loud whale calling aka Ava stomach.

I couldn't hold my laughter in anymore, I start laughing to the point have tears streaming down my face and after some time I stop laughing and I wipe my tears away and I grab some snacks and hobble up the stairs like I haven't just had a laughing frenzy. I walk into my bedroom and throw Eli the snacks and he grins and starts stuffing his face. I chuckle and sit down on my bed and grab a pillow and snuggle into it and soon Miles and Ava come up and sit down and Ava locks my door.

The movie starts and my heart starts pounding, I'm surprised no one can hear it. I feel Ava eyes burn into me and I try to ignore her stare but it's really hard because I know she won't stop. I glance over at her and she wiggles her eyebrows and looks at Miles and back at me and winks.

'How about no' I mouth.

Ava rolls her eyes and looks at the TV...I glance at Miles and I get a really good look at him and his features- hold up, what am I doing...I'm 14 not 16! I sit up and shake my head and look at the TV screen...The movie soon ends and I'm pretty sure I spent the whole time under my covers hiding. The lights flick on and I slowly take my quilt off my head and see Ava, Eli and Miles all with smug looks on their faces.

"We practically watched you hiding the whole time" Ava says sitting next to me.
"Did you really?" I whisper.
"Yes, you're just too funny" Ava says nudging me.

Miles and Eli and Ava continue to watch movies and I make an excuse to leave my room.

I go downstairs and go down into the basement where my dad built an indoor swimming pool, nothing big but I love it. I smile and sit down and dip my legs in it and close my eyes but I soon hear footsteps. I glance back and Miles walks in with a smile and some snacks.

"What are you doing?" I say trying to raise my eyebrow.
"I thought I should join you, I felt bad" He says giving me a small smile.
"You didn't have to" I say quietly.
"No...But I wanted to" He says sitting down next to me.
"Miles..." I whisper.
"Yeah?" He says looking at me.
"Do you actually like being around me or am I just-"
"Listen my little flower, if I didn't like you I wouldn't be sitting here would I?" He grins.

I couldn't help but smile, I don't think I've ever met a guy like him before, I continue to look at him and my eyebrows furrow together, why flower? Maybe I could just ask him!

"Also why flower?" I chuckle.
"Can't say" He winks.

'Not Helpful!' I roll my eyes and I look down into the swimming pool and I gently moved my legs in the water, I tilt my head to the side and touch Miles shoulder which I wasn't supposed to do! Do I move my head...Do I now stay? Do I- ...My thoughts go when he rests his head on mine. Something tells me this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
