It was a rather rainy day in Creswell, Oregon, but here rain is a very usual thing a sun is a more cherished thing to behold. So I was driving around town that day running feel store to store running errands buying things for my room and after driving all over town I had finished and decided to head home. Well on the way home I saw the town public library was open. I thought and decided I could use some books to read so I made a detour and parked and shut off my car and walked inside...
"Welcome to the Creswell library." My attention was drawn to the person behind the desk.
"Thanks" I replied as I started walking farther into the library looking at all the books, trying to think of what books I should check out.
I decided it was gonna be throw back Thursday and chose to read some of my favorite books I've read before. Books I decided to check out were: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, Slathbog's Gold by M. L. Forman, Eragon by Christopher Paolini, and the last book was.. Well.. I looked around for another book to add to my stack of books but I couldn't find any I wanted to check out so I walked over to the front desk. "Excuse me do you have any books that would be an exciting read and also has a mystery to it?"
The librarian looked up at me and smiled. "Oh I think I have just the thing" the librarian got up and walked over to a wall with a painting.
As I scratched my head wondering what he could possible be doing, he pressed a secret button causing a click and the painting swung forward revealing a safe, causing my interest to peak. The librarian opened it up and pulled out something wrapped in cloth. He walked back over and set it on the counter. I slowly reached out to grab it and he slapped my hand. "Ow dude hey what was that for?!"
"This is my book. And until I give you ownership you are not to touch it." He snapped in response.
"Ummm ok mr librarian whatever you say I guess." I say as I stand there waiting as he does his 'ownership transferring' thing or whatever.
He then told me to finalize it he had to do something in the back. I nodded and he left and I continued to stand there thinking that he wouldn't take that long. Boy was I wrong. 10 or 15 minutes later I was still waiting looking around when suddenly I hear a sort of whispering voice. Zach... My head instantly shot up and I quickly looked around seeing no one as I once again heard the same voice same whisper.. Zach... I looked down at the book confused. "Could it have been... No that's impossible..." I mutter thinking to myself.5 more minutes pass and the voice keeps calling my name. And something else happened. My attention turned back to the book as I had the sudden urge to know what lay in its pages. I slowly reached forward but yanked my hand back. "I promised that guy I wouldn't touch it.. So I won't." I state as I try to walk away to occupy myself but the voice calls me again and the urge grows stronger. "What the hell in going on.. Seriously if I didn't know better I would say that book is saying my name.. I really wanna know what is going on with this book.." I glance over my shoulder as the book as the urge overwhelms me and I walk over and unwrap the cloth and look over the book.
The book didn't look like anything special. It looked more like a personal journal rather than a book. It was a think book with a leather cover and back. The voice still said my name. I didn't wanna just touch it. I wanted to read it. I knew I had broke the promise but I figured it wouldn't hurt to look inside. So I slowly opened the cover and stared at the pages.
