The Mimic

One thousand meters below them was a new world.

Nick, Ben and Liz looked at the screen.

They saw a world of green and brown.

Water everywhere.

Streams, rivers and lakes.

Grey mists floated over the planet.

It was a wet, wet world.

"Its looks good," said Liz.

She was the spaceship naturalist.

There's water there.

And that green stuff must be plant life.

Nick went over to the computer.

"The readings say that we can breathe the air," he said.

"The temperature is twenty five degrees."

"Great," said Ben.

"Water, plant life, air we can breathe ans a nice temperature. I'd say this looks pretty good."

They were on a mission to find other planets in space where the humans could live.

Earth was getting pretty crowded.

"Lets go down and check it out," said Liz.

"Wait," said Nick.

"We don't know what's going on there. There might be dangerous animals. In a couple of days the computers could run a full check."

He looked at Ben. Ben was the captain.

"I hear what your saying, Nick," said Ben.

"But I agree with Liz."

We've been on the ship a long time.

We can look ourselves.

We will take weapons.

Ben pushed a button on the panel.

The spaceship fell through the sky.

It stopped and hovered.

The doors opened.

Ben, Liz and Nick got on their scooters.

They floated on into the mist of a new world.

The air was warm and humid.

Through the mist, they saw green trees and ferns.

The ground was soggy and boggy.

There were pools of water everywhere.

It was a good job they had their low - gravity scooters.

You could not walk over this swamp.

You'd sink up to your waist.

"It's like Earth must have been millions of years ago," said Liz

In the days of dinosaurs.

"Let's hope there aren't any dinosaurs here," said Nick

"If there are, we'll deal with them," said Ben.

He patted the laser gun at his belt.

It could be set to stun or kill.

No dinosaurs is going to argue with this.
