Chapter 2: A Change In the Game
"How about this one?" she asked while biting her lip. Sam was holding up the 100th dress she's found, asking for my approval. I laughed in my head. You could tell she was really stressing about finding "the one". Her face was scrunched up in concentration, scrutinizing the dress. Her blonde hair, once perfect when I picked her up, was now frizzy with strands of hair on the wrong side.
She looked up at me again, raising one blonde eyebrow in question.
"Well?!" she asked irritably. That finally did me in, I laughed, clutching my stomach and falling to the ground dramatically. I even snorted in effect, in hopes of getting the wild and fun version of my sister back, instead of this snooty, uptight version of her. She looked at me horrified, which to be honest didn't help her cause any, it only made me laugh harder. She dropped the dress she was holding.
"Elle, stop." she whispered, while looking around the store to see if people noticed me. And let me tell you did they notice! People from across the store were looking over at me, giving me weird looks. Some people were even laughing. The funniest people to me though were the people that were looking at Sam with humor in their eyes. Even they knew it was embarrassing her. Sam looked around widening her eyes, as if she finally noticed people were watching both of us. Not just me. She put her head down, covering her face with her hands, but not before I saw how red her face was. This went on for about another 30 minutes, me being a idiot rolling on the floor of the store and laughing, and Sam looking down trying not to meet the amused gazes of the people watching us. Then the store manager came, her teeth clenched in anger asking us in a sickly sweet voice to please leave the building or we would be kindly escorted out. I've been thrown out of enough stores to know that they wouldn't be kind or gentle. So Sam finally gaining her pride back grabbed our purses, me, and dragged us out of the store.
"I can't believe you did that to me!" She said in with venom in her voice. Standing up I brushed the dirt off my pants, and fixed my hair.
"Oh, lighten up! It didn't kill you! I wouldn't of had to do that if you weren't acting like something crawled up your butt and died." I said rolling my eyes. Sam just huffed and started to walk up the street. Sighing, I grabbed my brown leather purse on th side walk and ran to catch up with her. In heels. I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself! I didn't fall while running like a mad woman to my sister. Once I caught up with her I punched her on her shoulder playfully. Looking at her face I almost cracked up again. She was pouting her red lips, and glaring at the sidewalk with her green eyes.
"You got to admit that was pretty funny." I said while crossing my arms. When she didn't answer, I glanced over at her. Her lips were quirked up in a smile, but she was still looking down at the sidewalk like it was the most interesting thing in the world. Getting an idea I started to walk closer to her. When my shoulder brushed hers, I looked at her again. She was still smiling, but she just wasn't looking at me! So I digged my elbow into her ribs, knowing that that was where she was the most ticklish. I could feels her holding her laughter.
"Come on! You know you want to laugh, where's that laugh?!" I asked in a voice I would usually talk to a dog with. That finally got a reaction out of her. She busted out laughing, and soon I was laughing with her. You see Sam was one of those people that had a funny laugh, so when she laughed you might as well prepare yourself to laugh til you get a six pack.
"You see I told you it was funny! You just over reacted!" I told her in a baby voice. She just laughed harder at that. I pulled my eyebrows together, and sent her a weird look. "What's so funny?" I asked her in a confused voice. I knew I was funny, but not that funny. She finished laughing, wiped her eyes, and looked at me.
"What you did back there is not what I was laughing about, even though it was hilarious." She said with humor in her voice.
"Then what was?" I asked her.
She looked up at the sky, "Oh, you know just that I made you watch me try on dress after dress when I already found the one a week ago." With that she took off down the street, laughing as she went. I stared at her dumb founded. When I finally realized what she said, I took off after her yelling, "Your so going to get it!"
