There she was, your little girl, so beautiful and happy; Scarlet was always such a happy little girl, just like her mother.

She had your bright, always curious eyes and Oliver's chipper, warm smile that melted hearts.

You watched as she teetered around, hugging people's legs as they wished her a happy first birthday; she still had trouble walking, but she was getting better with each passing day.

You smiled as Oliver tried to keep up with her, almost always bent over at the waist to catch Scarlet if she looked like she was gonna fall.

"Enjoying the view, (Name)?" Kitty asked you, and you laughed, hugging her close. "I remember how it felt; it felt like there was nothing wrong in the world, like nothing can make you happier than your husband and your child."

Oliver scooped up Scarlet before she could pull on Charlotte's skirt, turning to you and smiling sheepishly from across the room.

"Yeah," you murmured, and Kitty kissed your cheek.

"Remember, darling, it's just started," she told you, and your smile grew. It was only the beginning of a lifetime of joy, unscathed bliss with people you loved more and more each day.

Oliver moved through the crowd until he was next to you, and Scarlet was transferred into your arms. She cuddled up to you, and you held her close to you. Oli wrapped his arms around the both of you, leaning his forehead against yours.

"I love you," he whispered, kissing your nose, and you smiled, scrunching it up.

"I love you more," you replied.

"I doubt that," he teased, and you rolled your eyes. "I bet you two hundred dollars that I harbor more love for you than anything in the world."

You blushed at his words. "You cheesy dork."

"But I'm your cheesy dork," he replied with a grin, pulling back from you. "Do you want to start cake and presents?"

Scarlet sat up straight at the word cake, as that was her favorite food. She looked at Oliver with bright eyes.

"We'll have to now," you said with a laugh as Oliver took Scarlet. You cupped your hands around your mouth and announced, "Cake time!"

Oli set Scarlet into her high chair, and you grabbed the cake, a solitary candle sitting in it. Lighting the candle and dimming the lights, everyone broke into song, singing to Scarlet as you carried the cake to your daughter.

As they finished singing, you, Oli, and Scarlet blew out the candle all together with a little slobber from Scarlet.
