"Why do you love Ladybug so much, anyways? What's so great about her?"
"Aw, is my princess feeling jealous?"
"In your dreams, Chat Noir. I just want to see your point of view of my good friend."
"Ladybug is your friend?"
"Closer friends than you might think."It was a cool, Friday night where every student had plans for sleepovers or hangouts, or parties and family vacations. But for Marinette, her plans were to relax out on the terrace, listening to the soft tune of the piano as she doodled away in her sketchbook. On most Friday's, she'd be with Alya. They would start their silly, girly shenanigans; playing video games, talking about their classmates, and deciding what clothes go with what or the latest news with Ladybug and Chat Noir.
Tonight, though, Marinette had time alone, which she didn't have so often. Her double life living as a normal girl compared with being the super heroine of Paris didn't give one much time to themselves. Marinette was able to throw on her relaxing attire which consisted of a white t-shirt and striped-pink shorts with her precious little kwami falling asleep inside her bedroom. It's not that she wasn't grateful for being a hero, or having friends at school; but everybody needed something to themselves. She can't possibly be with someone else 24/7, it would drive her mad. Marinette needed this, and with the night being ever so comfortable and perfect, nothing could ruin her moment.
Or at least, she thought so.
Her peaceful night to herself had been interrupted with a soft thump upon her terrace behind her, and what's worse is that she knew exactly who it was. With a soft sigh, Marinette set down her her pencil and sketchbook, sitting up from her seat and spinning around with a look of displeasure.
"Hello there, Princess. Lovely night, isn't it?" The blonde male had purred in a greeting, casually leaning against the railing of the terrace.
"It sure was before you came here, Chat Noir. Why are you here, anyways? It's already almost ten." Marinette replied, placing a hand on her hip. It's not like she hated the super hero for visiting every so often; they would talk for hours about everything and anything. She had to admit, too, that she enjoyed those talks with him.."Ah, how you hurt me so, Princess. I thought an alley cat like me could visit one of his friends."
"I don't think alley cats flirt with their friends, do they?"
"Call it what you wish, but you are my Ladybug when my lady isn't around."Marinette scoffed at that, escaping a few giggles here and there at his answer. The irony of the situation was too funny for her to handle sometimes.
"You know, I am curious about something." Marinette began almost hesitantly. Whenever she brought up the question, the feline before her would somehow avoid it. He would skip to another subject which always kept her skeptical about the topic.
Right now, Chat Noir had a gut feeling that he knew what was going to happen. He swallowed in a fresh bit of air before staring his emerald pupils into her sapphire orbs."Why do you love Ladybug so much, anyways? What's so great about her?"
"Aw, is my princess feeling jealous?"
"In your dreams, Chat Noir. I just want to see your point of view of my good friend."
"Ladybug is your friend?"
"Closer friends than you might think."Now if there was one thing Chat did not expect, it would be the fact that Marinette and Ladybug were pals. The thought never crossed his mind; was that why she was so curious in previous nights? Was Marinette worried for Ladybug's sake?
"Do you really want to know?" He mumbled quietly, looking away for a quick moment at the starry sky. The twin-tailed female flipped back her free hair before taking the time to lean against the railing with the male hero.
"Yeah, I do. I guess you could say I don't want any guy to take my friend away, especially when she's a super hero."
Chat chuckled at that before giving her one of the most love-stricken smiles he had ever showed to anyone.
"Just thinking about her gives me butterflies..." He began calmly."The way she looks so carefree when soaring through the streets of Paris. The way she can entrance every civilian with her beautiful charm and personality. The way she can save just about anyone when she tries her best. Ladybug is such a confident and kind-hearted lady... I don't ever want to quit being her partner." Chat Noir managed to let it all out on her. He chuckled at times, he looked away sometimes; the blonde even pushed away his locks while revealing pink-hued cheeks and a goofy grin. The boy had fallen hard for Ladybug, and Marinette couldn't help but look utterly astonished at his confession.
"But I know she's not perfect. Even Ladybug can be reckless and stubborn at times when it comes to saving innocent people. I'm with her almost everyday, so I know she has her flaws... But princess, when you're in love, you accept everything about a person."
Marinette faced away from the taller figure before covering her cheeks with her hands. Tears began to prick at her eyes, in which she desperately tried to harbor them away as well as her choked up throat."Anyways, Princess! Wouldn't you say I'm a suitable candidate for her love?" He switched immediately so his upbeat personality, pointing a finger at his face with a confident expression plastered upon his face. "W-what about the fact that, she, well, doesn't want to reveal herself? What if I told you?"
"Told me...?"
"Confessed who she is."
"No."An immediate answer. Why hadn't she expected that? Chat Noir wanted Ladybug herself to reveal her identity when she was comfortable and prepared to do so.
"As much as I like you, Princess, I can't accept that. I want my lady to tell me herself."
"And what if she is about to tell you herself?!"And he did not expect such retaliation from Marinette of all people. Chat Noir, or Adrien, always assumed she was a shy and quiet girl around him. He stood there quietly, now standing up straight to meet with Marinette face to face.
"Just... Listen to me for a moment, okay?"
And so he did.
