[warnings: none.

summery: you and dylan are both 18-19 which goes on to 6 years etc. to when you find out he has been injured on set.]

"I guess this is it, huh?" You said to your best friend Dylan at the airport.

"No, not exactly." Dylan said tugging one of his bags on his shoulder.

"Dylan, you're boarding a plane to film a new TV show on MTV, which will be a hit by the way. I'm going to college to practice being a nurse and-" You rambled before Dylan cut you off.

"I know but that doesn't mean this is it. I've known you for YEARS Y/N! You're my best friend! And this shouldn't stop us from staying that."

"How do we keep this going? We'll be too busy building our careers to even see each other." You inquired.

"But not call each other." He smirked, nodding his head.

"Right~" You shrugged looking down.

"C'mon think about it! I'll call you every time I have a break, on your birthday to give you birthday wishes, when the first episode of my show comes out! I'll have to leave some call time for mom but I'll call you." He said lifting up your chin to look at him.

While he was saying this, tears clouded your vision and your lip started to quiver, "I'm really going to miss you." You choked out letting the tears spill as he wrapped his arms around you tightly.

"I know." Dylan's voice cracked.

"Flight 229 Georgia is now boarding." The Airport speaker announced Dylan's flight. "Flight 229 Georgia is now boarding."

You and Dylan pulled away from your last embrace, seeing Dylan wipe his eyes before his mother tackled him in hug.

"Oh my baby boy! I'm going to miss you so much!" Lisa said bursting into tears too.

"I'll miss you too mom." He said hugging her.

"Last call Flight 229 Georgia boarding. Last Call Flight 229 Georgia boarding."

Dylan went over to his dad giving him a 'man' hug before walking to the boarding gate, "I'll call you!" he yelled before the air hostess closed the door. The sound of the plane engine filling your ears.

"Hey it's Dylan, sorry I couldn't get to the phone right now, leave a message at the--BEEP~"

"Hey Dyl, haven't been able to talk to you for a while. Of course you're busy on set and I've been busy with school, but I thought I'd call you to-uh," You said into your phone, his voice mail recording yet another one of your messages.

It wasn't always like this.

For the first few years, you both would call each other non stop, whether it was yours or his birthday, him being excited to tell you a new role he got, or you just complaining about how much homework you had.

Everything.

But after your 22nd birthday things had taken a bit of a toll,

"Hey Y/N!"

"Hey Dyl!"

"Happy Birthday~!" Dylan yelled through the phone.

"Thank you~!" You yelled back.

"Ready T-Pose?" you heard whispers on the other end, "Ready." before hearing the all too familiar tune,

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, YOU LOOK LIKE A MONKEY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU-HOOO~!" They yelled into the phone.

You laughed at their silliness, "Thank you guys!"

"You get anything cool?" T-pose asked.

"If 'insane amount of homework' is cool, yeah I guess you could say I did." You said sarcastically.

"C'mon Y/N! It's your birthday! You should go out and party!" Dylan whined.

"Well if I'm to pass MED school Dylan, no parties for me." You said.

"You always do school work." He sighed.

"What is that supposed to mean?" You scoffed "That you think I don't have fun?"

"Yeah." He stated bluntly.

"Well for your information Dylan, I have a lot of fun...after I finish all my work and THEN it's all FUN FUN FUN." You exasperated.

"That's just it isn't it? Ever since I've known you, it's been 'gotta be nurse' 'first let me finish this' blah blah blah." He mocked you.

"Whatever. I don't need a lecture from you on my birthday." You said a little hurt he would say something like that.

"Fine. I'll call you when I think you're more 'fun'." Dylan seethed through the phone.

"Fine."

"Fine!" He yelled hanging up.

Leaving you to listen to the slow beeps of a the ended call.

That was 3 months ago.

He never called back.

So you, sick of waiting, called him to tell him the big news, "but I thought I'd call you to-uh-to let you know I'm graduating today. I'll finally be able to get a job as a nurse. Help people, care for people, be apart of saving peoples lives." You smiled thinking about the future.

"Last time we talked, you said I was no fun and do too much work. But you never knew why I wanted to be a nurse, and I personally didn't know either but now I see why." You said growing emotional.

"Because of you." You confessed.

"C'mon Y/N! We'll be late for the ceremony!" Your dorm mate yelled.

You swallowed the lump in your throat, "anyways I've go to go or I'll miss the graduating part. Hope to hear from you soon,

"Bye." You sniffed pressing the end call button.
