Chris's POV
The doorbell rang and I went to get it.
"Hey Jakob," I grinned.
"Hey," Jakob replied, stepping into the house. "Ethan here yet?"
"Yeah, he's in the backyard."
"Excited for summer?" I asked as we walked to the backyard.
"Yeah," Jakob smiled.
I slid open the glass door and we walked up to Ethan, who sat on a ledge with my guitar rested on his knees, his fingers plucking against the strings randomly.
"Seriously dude, you need to learn how to play the guitar," I said to him. "I can. Jake can. If you can too, we can all play the guitar together."
"Yeah, well..." Ethan shrugged and chewed his fingernails as he thought. "Never really got round to it."
"I can teach you, if you want," I offered.
"Yeah, I'll help too," Jakob said.
"Okay, sure," Ethan shrugged. "So... why are we here?"
This was the exciting--and frighteningly nervous part. A month or two ago, we'd decided to audition for the 2015 X Factor Australia. We videotaped ourselves singing a snippet of a song and uploaded it to the website. We left my email address as the contact email. A little while later, we got an email saying we'd gotten through to the next rounds. We went in live and sang, though not in front of the judges, and just yesterday at 11 at night I got another email confirming that we were going to make it to the auditioning stage.
When I broke the news to Ethan and Jakob, they went mad.
"Are you f*cking kidding me?!" Ethan shouted.
"Jeez, language," Jakob replied.
"Yeah, Ethan, don't f*cking swear," I said, and we all started to laugh.
"No, but seriously. Are you for real?"
"If this is a joke, Christopher Lanzon..."
"It's not, I promise," I said. "Here, look at the email."
When they finished reading the email, Jakob and Ethan both looked up with faces full of glee, like it was Christmas morning or something.
"I can't believe it," said Jakob. "Wow. I guess we're going to have to start rehearsing a lot more."
"Yeah," Ethan replied. "Oh god, this is going to be epic."
Max's POV
I couldn't believe my ears.
"Are you serious? You actually auditioned for the X Factor and got in?"
"Yeah, dead serious," Ethan said. "I couldn't believe it when Chris told us."
"So who else knows?" I asked.
"Just Jakob, Chris and I, our parents, Lara, and you," Ethan replied.
"This is amazing, guys," I exclaimed. "You know what we should do? We should celebrate."
