June 24: Graduation Day
I hastily put my dark blue toga over my dark pink graduation dress which my mom, who owns a small dress shop downtown, made for me. It's not that really grand or too simple, but it's design reflects me. With simple ruffles on the hem of my skirt and flower designs on the body of the skirt. And what's best is that when light hits the color of my dress...it will turn light pink. My mama sure has creative hands.
Although I have no make-up on or any fancy jewelry, except from the heart-like-key necklace that my late grandfather gave to me as an eighteen birthday when I was just a freshman in college, I look decent enough to look at from the stage.
"Yona," my mother knocked on the door. I quickly did the ribbon on my toga then safety pinned my graduation hat on top of my head. "Are you ready?" she asked while still knocking. "Please don't tell me you're still in the shower."
I sat down on my bed then started putting on my shoes. Correction, heels. Oh, how I just hate this.
"Almost done, mama." I replied back then carefully stood up, trying to balance myself since I am a foreign to this kind of shoes. Without a warning, my mom opened the door then giggled at my disposition.
"How will boys like you if you don't know how to act like a proper lady?" mom teased then pinned something over my toga. I groaned at her comment then huffed on my bangs which was covering my face.
"I told you to stop that. Be a lady sometimes, Yona. "mom scolded me then my papa came in next while laughing like Santa Clause.
"Just let her be herself, Tsuna. And besides its her big day today." my papa cheered then brought out a camera behind his back.
"Oh, no. Not now papa. You know how awkward I am when it comes to cameras." I complained then mama took my chin for me to look at her.
"Why will you be awkward? Your papa and I worked hard to have a daughter as beautiful as you." I sweat dropped. Oh, please. Not now....your statement was just so wrong, mom. I thought.
"Now, now...let me take a picture of the beautiful women in my life." dad said then positioned the camera. Mom and I laughed then linked arms together then later on there was a flash coming from the camera.
"Papa! Papa! Me too! I wanna join!" Toya, my lil brother, said while jumping up and down. Mama, papa, and I laughed.
I wish this day would never end.

It was time for the students to go to their proper places for the ceremony when I suddenly noticed someone eye stalking me. I looked around and saw Ren Shibuya looking at me with his bad boy look. Ugh, speaking of the devil he's coming up towards me.
Well, let me tell you what. Ren Shibuya is the most horrible guy in the world. His aggressive behavior and bad boy-cocky look makes me just want to puke everything I have eaten since I was born.
"What's with you and your eye stalking?" I asked him in a monotone voice. He snickered then crossed his arms. I noticed that his shirt was half open between his toga. I looked away trying to hide my blushing face. Ugh, what's wrong with you, Yona?! Don't let yourself be seduced by this man!
"Nothin'. It's just that you look proper today. I'd say I better take advantage of seeing you like this cause I know after this you will look like a mess just as always." I gaped at his comment. Did he just said 'take advantage' and this was the only day that I look proper?! Ugh, I can't believe he has the nerves and guts to say those!
"Yeah right. I'd say you better fix yourself cause you look like you're going to a Gothic party and may I remind you Mr. Shibuya that you're in a graduation ceremony." I said while turning my back on him.
"I feel for the man who will end up marrying you." he added. I whirled around and saw him going to his place. "Well, I feel for your future wife!" I hissed and I swear to God I heard him chuckled.

"Nee-chan! Let's go back there tomorrow ! Just you and me so that we can go to the horror booth!" Toya cheered while holding a cotton candy on one hand and the other which I was holding and swinging at the same time.
I laughed. "If you promise that you won't cry while we're lining up then sure we'll go back there tomorrow." I said then he cheered.
"Oh no you won't you two. God knows you two might end up crying while both of you are inside." Mama scolded us while pinching both of our ears which really hurts a lot.
"We were just kidding. We were just kidding." Toya and I chanted while raising our hands in surrender.
Mom can be such a killer joy sometimes.
"Ah, finally, Mr and Mrs. Kurando you're home! Had fun wherever you went?" An irritating voice stopped me from laughing. My mom let go of our ears then hugged me and Toya. Ugh, Ren's father. Mr. Shibuya. For sure, Ren inherited Mr. Shibuyas bad behaviour.
"Good evening...sir." I politely said just to ease the cold atmosphere which was killing me. Will this day get any worse?
"Ah, good evening Yona. You look expensive in your clothes." He said while looking at me from head to toe. Toya then tightly hugged my waist.
"Oi mister stop looking at my nee-chan like that." My lil brother said over protectively.
"Uhm, sorry bout that sir. What...brought you here?" My father asked while stepping in front of us. Please not the dept. Please don't say the dept. I prayed inside my mind.
"Oh, you already know that Frederick," he paused for a moment to clean his glasses. "The house and the debt."
"How many times do we have to repeat that, that house is ours and not yours." I said then my mom tightened her grip on me. "Yona!"
"Pardon?" He mocked while smiling evilly.
I jerked myself away from my brother and mother's grip and stood beside my papa.
"Yona." My dad said in a hushed tone but I didn't budged.
"I'm sorry Mr. Shibuya but I went back to all of the old files at the city hall and saw that the house testament was named after my great grandfather." I said coolly. I was expecting him to apologize but I was wrong. He just laughed as if I was joking from my statement. If I just have the paper right now I will totally shove it right in to that big mouth of his.
"You don't get it Ms. Kurando," he laughed darkly. "You great grandfather insisted my grandfather to give that house to your clan. My grandfather agreed, but he has to pay one million."
Nani?! O-One million?!
"Your great grandfather thought he can pay it all in no time...but he ended up only paying half a million."
I gulped.
"So that means, the next person to pay the debt is you, Ms. Kurando. I suggest you to find a stable job already, so that you can pay as soon as possible.." he laughed at my surprised face. Me? I-I have to shoulder my family debt?! Well, what can I do? I'm the eldest when it comes to my cousins and to my lil brother, Toya.
"My, my... you should have just worked harder Frederick. You just gave your fresh from graduation daughter a heavy burden." he smirked.
"Shut up! It's my responsibility as the eldest! Well, in that case I'm accepting your challenge! And once I found a stable job and earned half a million...I'll make sure I will shove it to your mouth!" I said with rage in my heart.
I have to win this challenge!
For my family's sake and for my late great grandfather and late grandfather's sake.
I have to win this thing!
