Piper Ghardian grew restless as she waited in the principal's office with the other new students. She'd been sitting there for over an hour, okay, maybe it was just a few minutes, but it seemed like forever. Easton High was not a school she wanted to attend. Then mother hadn't cared the least about what she wanted. The moment Ella Ghardian had come back from her tour round the world she'd enrolled Piper in Easton High and sent her packing. Piper didn't have a choice. She knew what her mother could be like.
"Piper Ghardian?" The nerdy boy beside her read from her admission letter. She folded the dreaded piece of paper. "Oh my you're Ella Ghardian's daughter!"
"No I'm not! You..are..mistaken," Piper said.
"You look just like......"
Just then the principal entered the room.
"Ladies and gentlemen you are welcome to Easton High, the school of......."
Piper tuned out the principal, her mind going back to her old school. No one knew who she was and that was the way she liked it. She had friends because people liked her for her not her mother's fame or money. Growing up to be the daughter of a famous actress was hard and she'd have given anything to be normal. She'd even moved to Texas when she was ten to live with her grand mother but a year later her mom had come to get her because she'd had an argument with Gran Gran. Things didn't get better when she was forced to star in a movie with her mother. She'd had to wear sunglasses in public ever since. When she was fourteen her mother had finally understood she didn't want to be in the spotlight and had sent her away to a boarding school in Scotland. Six months later she'd returned home to find out that Layla, her twin sister had joined her mother in the spotlight. They both treated her like she was an old piece of clothing. Not like she cared. At least her mom let her do what she wanted.  She went all the way across the country to her aunt's and started a new life there. She'd grown wilder. She dyed her hair got piercings on her eyebrows, nose, belly button and six more in each ear. Tattoos had been next on the list until momma had shown up and dragged her back to New York.
"Piper? " The principal called.
"Yeah? "
She got handed a few papers, her schedule nonetheless. "You're in Octavian house, room twelve. Your roommate is Skye Mcafferty. You are all dismissed ".

Octavian was the biggest house in the school. It was a huge white building with statues and fountains in front. The front door was open so she walked right in. The door opened to a large foyer. To the right was a large room filled with books and desks. To the right was a room which housed a huge flat screen TV five couches and three recliners. There was also a long table on a huge platform surrounded by about twenty chairs. Piper didn't notice much except the house was empty. Cool, she thought, as she made her way up the stairs.
