⠀⠀⠀"Who knew it'd come to this, Mikaela?" A raspy, blood-clogged voice coughed into his ears. It was an unpleasant sound and rather heartbreaking. He didn't know if he could go any further than he had, but whether he could or couldn't wasn't relevant at the moment. His options were limited— that is, if you could even call them options. His orders were clear, yet concise. To kill the Queen of the Vampires was no easy task and required lots of strength, speed, and smarts, but here he was, tip of the sword aimed at her throat. She was right— who knew it would've come to this.

⠀⠀⠀"I knew you'd betray me sooner or later, so it comes to no shock to see you'd be the one to kill me today." Krul chuckled softly, though it resulted in another dangerous coughing fit. "I taught you well, didn't I, darling? You've grown to fight as expected from you. It's no surprise to see I'm breathing my last breaths with a sword to my throat. The Queen has to fall one day, right?" She cackled.

⠀⠀⠀Mikaela didn't laugh along with her.

⠀⠀⠀Krul's tone suddenly changed, words forming cold and smug. Her scarlet gaze narrowed, the slits dilating as she managed a smirk, claws gripping at the silver end of the sword with less ease. "You must be happy. After all, you should be. You'll be the last known, living vampire in the world once I have vanished. Perhaps choosing the humans was a wise decision, hm?" Her grip became more solid to the point blood began to slowly seep out from her wound a little too deeply. Mikaela gulped, returning his attention to the fallen queen. "But you do know, don't you? Humans are terrifying. You won't last another moment in their care. You know what they'll do to you, Mikaela, they won't hesitate to exterminate you, too. You're a vampire, don't you forget that. The true monsters aren't us." Her gaze hardened and she smiled psychotically, fangs visible as they reflected off the sun's rays. "They are the humans. Your precious Yuichiro is a monster!"

⠀⠀⠀"Be quiet!" Mikaela finally shouted, shoving the sword into her chest, tearing through her skin with a slash, and Krul coughed.

⠀⠀⠀"You're a fool, Mikaela." She muttered.

⠀⠀⠀"Those are your last words?" The blond asked quietly, pain in his crimson irises, preparing to finish it all at once. He could feel his instincts tell him to hold off and let her escape, but he pushed forward and watch as she begin to wither away as if she were a dying flower. Mikaela did not know how he was going on with doing this; Krul was like a motherly figure to him, and now he had to go on and watch his mother die- a second time. Krul grinned, shutting her eyelids slowly as her chest shallowed in breaths. "I love you, Mikaela." His chest ached at those words, but he forced himself to not respond, ducking his head down before replying ever-so-softly, "Goodbye, Krul."

⠀⠀⠀Then, with a single jerk of his arm, he sliced her frame and she disappeared from existence as she was exhaling her last breath.

⠀⠀⠀Mikaela didn't shed a single tear.

⠀⠀⠀The remaining blood from the last vampire that wasn't him trickled down the edge, slick and dark. Mikaela tried to keep his eyes away from the weapon currently in his hands, but no avail as his own gaze hardened. Krul was the last vampire he could relate to, suffer with, and now she was gone. He was alone in a vampire-free, human world. He was no human. Where did he belong?

⠀⠀⠀"Mika!"

⠀⠀⠀"Mika-kun!"

⠀⠀⠀"Mikaela-san!"
