Chapter Two

Picture of Marcella’s Dinner Outfit >>>

The airplane trip to Nevada was actually fine (even though everyone says that airplane trips are horrible) and I checked out, collected my luggage and went through all the customs.

While struggling to juggle my water bottle, my light purple spotted shoulder bag, neon yellow suitcase and navy blue flower patterned rucksack, I scanned the crowd for Mum’s familiar face.

“CELLA HONEY!”

I rotated several degrees, and spotted Mum’s face. My heart fluttered, and I zipped over to her as quickly as I could-straight into her arms.

“Mum!” I squealed, hugging her tightly.

“Cella, how are you?” Mum gushed, grabbing my shoulder bag and rucksack.

I followed her out of the building to the car park. “So, where do you live? OMG, you have to take me sightseeing! Take me to all the tourist spots! Mum, this is going to be so much fun! Hey, do you think we can go shopping now? Oooh, or maybe we can go and do all the things on my travel guide!”

Mum chuckled. “Whoa, whoa, slow down there darling! We’ll get to do ALL those things okay? But right now, we’re just going to go home, and just settle down and unpack-alright?”

I giggled, shaking my head, still giddy with excitement from actually being OUTSIDE of Avery Woods. “Alright. So, where do you live?”

“Well, I live in a flat, 5th floor,” Mum informed me, finally reaching a Ford that looked pretty middle-class. “I know you’ll like it. I spunked up the flat-it looks funky trust me.”

Mum helped me chuck my luggages into the boot, before we climbed into her car. It smelt like lavender, and there was a small green M&M guy dangling from a string hanging from the front mirror. The car was pretty messy (extremely different to Dad’s car, which is neat and pristine, and gets cleaned once a week) and had a few Boost wrappers here and there, brown paper bags that smelt suspiciously like fish and chips, a few McDonalds wrappers etc.

I chewed my lip, and quickly flicked a Crunchie bar off the leather seat. Gross. Crunchie’s were good-but not when they’re on your seat.

“Oh, don’t mind the mess,” chuckled Mum, chucking a few Vogue magazines on her seat, behind her.

I buckled the seatbelt. “I’ll try not to.”

The streets were fairly different to Avery Woods. Since Avery Woods is so small, the streets aren’t very big, and they’re quite quiet. It was different here. In Enterprise, the streets weren’t packed-but they were bustling with a fair amount of people.

In Avery Woods, the streets had a diner, a convenience store, a tyre repair shop (mostly used for the tourists passing by Avery Woods), a small bookstore, an electrical store and a tiny plumbing shop. That’s all.

In Enterprise, the streets were packed with shops selling all sorts of stuff.

I pressed my face against the glass window, eyes fixated outside. Mum chuckled.

‘Certainly different from Avery Woods, huh?” she commented, pausing at a red light.

“It’s so...busy,” I replied, studying all the shops and shoppers. “Avery Woods is like a pebble compared to this.”

Mum chuckled again, “You kidding me? Enterprise isn’t even the biggest city in Nevada! In fact, Enterprise is only the 8th largest city in Nevada!”
