this may be hard to follow, but this is a few months after message 9 and three days before message 10.

"babe, when are we gonna meet up?" phil pouted, spinning gently in his chair while talking to his new boyfriend, dan over skype.

"soon. maybe in a few weeks. but my mum is calling me downstairs so i have to go, love you, philly!" dan smiled and made a heart with his hands.

"goodbye, dear!"

for the rest of the week, the boys couldn't wait to see each other, everyday they were jittery with excitement. phil had bought train tickets and dan had bought phil a small little cactus, for them to grow together, it would be their child.

when the day finally came, phil rushed out of the house and to the tube, he couldn't wait to spend the weekend with his precious boyfriend.

phil arrived at 9:00 in the morning, knocking on the door and waiting.

"philip! dan's told me so much about you, dear!" dan's mother exclaimed happily.

"is he awake, mrs. howell?" phil asked quietly

"not now, but come in and make yourself at home! would you like some
tea?"

"sure." phil smiled gently and sat down.

dan's mother came back with two mugs of tea, handing one to phil.

"so mrs. howell, when's dan's next chemo?"

"pardon?" she replied, confused

"doesn't dan have chemotherapy?"

"no... why would you get that idea? he doesn't have cancer."

in that second, all phil felt was the pang of betrayal.
