"Elena, I know you're hesitant to do this but he really needs your help! I have to grade all these papers and you're the best in my class! Please just this once, they even said they will pay you for your services." My math teacher Mr. Brenner said practically begging me.
"Okay...there isn't any harm if I help him this once, I suppose. Tell them I'm happy to help him." I was still hesitant but Mr. Brenner is my favorite teacher after all and I don't want to disappoint him.
"Great! Yes, I will tell them right away. Thank you so much Elena, this helps a lot." He seemed genuinely happy, because I saved his butt.
I left the room after that and started thinking of how this would be. In just a couple hours I would be going to Mr. Brenner's sisters house to tutor her son. Who's my age but goes to a different school; or so I've heard.
Snickering snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned around to see the high school bullies. They were the three cutest boys in the school, although they were about one year younger than I am they still managed to "rule the school" if you want to put it that way. So, anyways they were standing in a little group snickering with their girlfriends. Who ruled the school as well, I haven't even taken the time to learn their names I know one is Ashley. The brunette girl however, didn't look familiar, maybe she's new.
When they noticed me staring, the brunette girl yelled "What's your problem?" Yep she's new.
"Elena isn't it your time to like go read and sit alone again at lunch?" Calum said rudely but his eyes showed sympathy like he was apologising to me. I nodded my head and walked off only a little hurt, ignoring the rude remarks from Luke and Michael, I headed to lunch.
Here's something about Calum and I's relationship for you, well we're neighbors. Our parents became best friends when I moved here six years ago, so we were pretty much forced into a friendship because we're close in age. We, however, did become great friends, but Calum changed when we started this school. He met Michael and Luke, and completely ditched me.
After a couple months of us not talking, by that meaning he completely ignored me, he came to my doorstep asking to be friends again. I, of course, said yes but made sure he promised not to ditch me again and he promised. When we're at school though he puts up that jerk act for his friends, for a while I was mad but I learned not to think too much of it because he doesn't really mean it and I know how he is when it comes to reputation and he's starting to do it less and less.
I got my food and went to my usual table, but I saw someone else was sat there. A girl who I don't recognize but resembles the brunette that was with Calum earlier except lighter hair and wearing less make up was sitting eating an apple and reading. Normally I sit alone and do the same as her but now I'm accompanied. She still hadn't noticed me. Well, I better introduce myself.
"Hi, I'm Elena Castro. Are you new here?" I stuck out my hand for her to shake and she finally looked at me, well my hand. She then looked at me and shook my hand after having me wait there for about fifteen seconds.
"Hey. I'm Kari Allens, yes I'm new here. Nice to meet you. Just moved from Melbourne a couple days ago." *A/N they're all in Sydney in this fanfic.
"Well, nice to meet you as well. May I join you? I normally sit here
alone and read like you but now I can have a reading buddy." She let out a chuckle and nodded her head before going back to her book. She seems like a nice girl, but not much of a talker. Maybe she was just into her book and I interrupted her.
I'm now sat in reading class, I have this class with Calum because he got into my class, it's also my last class of the day. He's such a bookworm, like me. Except he doesn't and won't ever admit it to his friends. I try to get him to be honest with his friends but god forbid he does one thing they don't like.
I got snapped out of my thoughts when something collided the back of my head. I looked behind me and noticed Calum trying to get my attention, he motioned to the paper for me to read it.
I'm really sorry about today, Elena. I told them not to mess with you anymore. Please forgive me?
-Cal x
I looked back at Cal and he was looking at me pleadingly so, I nodded at him and gave him a reassuring smile to tell him that it was alright. Although, it still does hurt a little bit because he's such a jerk and so rude when he's around other people. He's like my little brother though, I could never stay mad at him for that long. Even when he ditched I wasn't mad, I was just waiting for him to apologize.
He smiled at me, and I turned my attention back to the movie we were watching. We were watching Romeo and Juliet because our teacher had to unexpectedly leave. Normally they don't just let teachers leave like that, so it must've been pretty big.
When class ended, Calum came up to me asking if I could hang out later but I told him I had to tutor that guy. I walked out and went to see Mr. Brenner because I need the address, what time and such.
Mr. Brenner gave me the address and told me to just go straight there after I leave which will be in an hour or so because I have to go to lacrosse. Yes, I know what you're thinking, 'What is this quiet, skinny girl playing lacrosse for?' Well for your information I happen to be really good at it. I'm on varsity might I add.
*A/N idk if they have lacrosse in Australia but just go with it. and for the people who don't know what lacrosse is, it's basically field hockey except the ball is in the air.
When I was walking to lacrosse practice I saw Kari again and we talked for only a minute because I didn't want to be late to practice but we exchanged numbers and such.
I bet most of you think I should have friends and be 'popular because' I'm smart, good at sports, yadda yadda. I could have friends if I wanted to but I'm just a quiet person and I like to keep to myself most of the time. That's why I'm nervous to tutor this guy tonight because I'm just shy and quiet. For example I prefer sitting in my room; reading or listening to music rather than going out to parties and drinking my ass off like Calum does...
My coach only scolded me a tiny bit because I did ended up late, only by about a minute though. After an hour and a half of drills, running, and more running I was done for the day with school.
I got into my car and looked at my phone to check my "Notes" that has the address and went on my way. I drove for about fifteen minutes, with a faint sound of the radio playing the latest top 40 hits, or something along the lines of that. Just thinking about how this will be.
Is he nice? Will he be easy to work with? etc etc. I pulled up to a somewhat big house, it looked very 'homey' though. Even from the outside. I walked up to the door and knocked on it. Well, here goes nothing.
