It takes like what seems like forever to get out of that darn hospital, but we finally get to the Impala and start to drive. "So, brief me. What happened at the morgue? What was the outcome of the autopsy?" I am eager to kick start this case back on the right track. "Well, Amanda Bridges was killed around 3 a.m. this morning. Dr. O'Brian said that her lungs were ripped out while she was still alive. I looked into police records to see if something like this had ever happened before, but the files were clean. I couldn't find a case half way similar to this one. I also looked into local legend, but nothing seems to relate." The car gets silent as if no one has any more ideas about the case. "Maybe it's not a spirit. Maybe it's some psycho killer who steals people's lungs." Dean says. I lean up in between the two front seats. "Did you look into ancient lore?" I ask. I know that one of the main things to look into when on a case is ancient lore. Sometimes people accidently, or purposely, summon these creatures into this work. It makes things a bit more complicated for us hunters. Sam starts to speak up, "I did read somewhere about the Windigo. Windigo's were once humans who conformed to cannibalism. Maybe we're dealing with a Windigo." I shake my head. "Windigo's eat a person's flesh, not just their lungs. What kind of monster just eats lungs?" I ask, putting my hand on my chin. We sit in silence for a while, all of us in deep thought, then I remember the guy from the hospital. "Kyle!" I spit out his name like I've known him for years. "Who is Kyle?" asks Sam. My face turns sort of red as Dean turns around to look at me. "Oh, uh, he's just some guy I met at the hospital as I was hiding from you-I mean I wasn't really hiding..."My voice trails off from embarrassment. "What about him?" asks Dean. I can feel the tension in the car. "He asked me if I would come back and visit him, I think he's rather lonely." There is a moment of silence in the car. "Is this what you do when we're not around? Hide in random guy's rooms? You are a hunter, April! You think you can have a normal life, but you can't! Not everyone is who they seem!" Dean is yelling now. I try to take a deep breath but it hurts. He called me a hunter. "Dean, she isn't a little kid anymore. She can see whoever she wants." Sam says. "He just asked me to visit him...that's all." I reply, my voice getting softer and I feel a tear forming in my eye. I look out the window and wipe it away as it falls. There isn't another word all the way to the hotel. We finally make it to the hotel after a long, quiet ride. Sam takes out the room key and opens the door. We get inside and I flop onto a bed. I pull out my laptop from inside my book bag and begin to research. "I'm going to go grab us lunch." Says Dean. "And pie." He seems very agitated as he straightens his jacket and slams the door behind him. "What's with him?" I ask. "He's got a lot on his plate right now, April. I mean, we thought you were going to die yesterday." I look at Sam who ruffles his hands through his hair. I keep thinking about Dean and how I overheard him talking in my unconsciousness. Maybe I've been a little too harsh on him, especially by bringing up Kyle. I quickly make a promise to myself never to see him again. I don't want to get anyone else involved with my messed up life anyways. "I found it!" Shouts Sam. "It's called a Plumogo. It is the cousin of the Windigo. Ancient legend says that the creature was formed after a lung was consumed by a human. They do their hunting at night and stalk their prey who smell of clean air, taking human form in the process. The only way to kill it is to burn its lungs. That's not so hard." I jump up from the bed and go look at his computer. "They enjoy places that have lots of fresh air." We both sit for a minute thinking about where we can find the Plumogo in this area. "What about the mountains?" Asks Sam. "Or maybe there's a park around here?" I add. Allof the sudden, Dean comes through the door with food. "Who wants pie?" Hesounds like he is back to normal again. He throws the food onto the bed wherewe are sitting and Sam and I just look up at him. "What? No one wants pie?"Deans says the word pie like it is the greatest thing on earth. It's actuallykind of cute. "While you were looking for pie, April and I were looking for whatthis lung eating monster is. It's called a Plumogo, cousin to the Windigo." Samsays while I open the bag to see what Dean brought for dinner. "Double baconcheeseburger! My favorite, thanks Dean." I open the burger and take a hugebite. "Girl knows her burgers." Dean grins and then jumps back into what Samwas saying. He takes a bite of food and asks Sam, "So, how do we kill this thing?" Sambegins to read off of the computer screen. "The Plumogo, like its cousin the Wendigo, isimmortal to guns and knives. The Plumogo could quite possibly live forever, butit does have a weakness. Just like the Wendigo, you can kill the Plumogo withfire, but you have to burn it between the eyes, which is its weakest point."Sam finishes. "So to kill it, we have to burn it between the eyes?" I ask. "Well, doesn't this sound like fun" Dean replies sarcastically. "We know what we haveto do, we will leave when it starts getting dark." Sam says, closing hislaptop. "In the meantime, April, get some rest." Dean says opening his pie andtaking a huge bite. Nobody talks as we finishing eating. I sit there watchingDean shovel pie into his mouth like he hasn't eaten in days. He notices mewatching him and says "What?" with a mouthful of pie. I shake my head, finish myfood, then move to the other bed to take a nap. My lung hurts pretty badly, butI can't let them know that. I close my eyes and try to sleep, but I can't, so Ijust pretend to.
