"IF YOU LOVE ME LET ME GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IF YOU LOVE ME LET ME GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" I rolled over and finally got up instead of pressing snooze for the fifth time, because if I heard that godforsaken song, that I actually love, but not as an alarm, one more time I'd probably go crazy. "Urrrgggh" I grunted as I stretched and headed downstairs for some breakfast. "Good morning, Harley" my mom said, greeting me as I walked into the very small kitchen of the hotel we were staying in. "How'd you sleep, hon?" mom asked. "Like a baby." I replied, even though it might not have been very truthful. I had actually been up all night unable to sleep because of all the things on my mind. Things like, school and college, my dad, my best friend Alyssa who has been in Australia with her family because of her cousin that is terminally ill, and my slight nerves for tonight's show. I'm in Manhattan, in a hotel with my mom because tonight and tomorrow night, is the big School of Rock competition. I sat down on a barstool and scrolled through the band's group chat. Carrie: I'm so excited guys! Devin: Same, I really hope we get through to the next round after tonight's show! Harley: we'll do great guys! Ethan: that's the spirit Harley! haha xD. My mom shuffled some eggs off of a spatula onto my plate. "thanks." "Are you excited for tonight? Nervous?" she asked. "Of course I'm SO excited, but yes, at the same time I am a little nervous. You'd think after 3 years of doing this, I wouldn't be so nervous on stage anymore." "Well honey, everybody gets nervous, even Beyonce, haha." We both giggled at that comment. I set my plate in the sink and went back into my room to start getting ready. I played my Hey There Delilah radio on Spotify and tossed my phone onto the bed. I rummaged through my suit case until I found the perfect outfit. Distressed high waisted shorts, snug grey crop top and a blue and white flannel to tie around my waist, and to top it off, white high-top converse. I was singing along to my music and dancing around the room while getting ready, of course because what 16 year old girl doesn't do that. After a Fall Out Boy song had ended, another began and I soon caught onto the lyrics and was digging it! "And if there is a mountain, I can make it move, and when the sky is falling I can hold it for you!" I sang. I danced over to pick up my phone to see what this awesome song was. Hercules, by Fly Away Hero, the screen read. I screenshot so I wouldn't forget. Once I was dressed I went into the bathroom to put on my face, gotta have that winged eyeliner!(sharp enough to kill a man). Once the eyeliner battle was over, I decided to walk over to Carrie's hotel room which was a bit down the hall from mine. "Mom, I'll be back I'm gonna go hang out with Carrie for a bit." "Okay honey." I closed the door and walked down the hall. Carrie was the bassist in our band,Drowning on Land. She rocked too. *Knock Knock* I heard foot steps running to the door, and suddenly it flung open and I flinched back. "Harley!" Carrie hugged me and invited me in. She had half her hair straightened and the other half was an untouched tangled mess, and she had put jean shorts on, and also had on the oversized T-shirt she slept in. Which was probably Ethan's shirt, Carrie's boyfriend and also the drummer of our band. She was always taking his things, sweatshirts mainly. I get it though, I probably would too if I had a boyfriend, haha. "I'm still getting ready, we still have like two hours until we actually have to do something." She muttered in her soft southern accent, while pulling her cheek downward to apply her bottom eyeliner. "I noticed, haha." I replied. "I am so excited for tonight Harley, like, you don't even know." "Yeah me too, just a bit nervous though." " I can't believe you still get nerves after so long, you've been in the band longer than me and I've gotten pretty comfortable." "yeah, yeah" "Anyway, performing isn't the only reason I'm excited." She said, smirking at me. "...Oh yeah? What is it then...?" I asked, sending over a confused glare. "Well," she began, "there are going to be other School of Rock bands there... well obviously, we're all competing..." "what are you getting at here, Carrie?" "Well you have been single and kinda in a slump for a while...." "Oh my god Carrie, really? I don't need a boyfriend, and I have not been in a slump!" She looked back over at me, "Ehhh you kind of have." she contradicted me. "whatever." I rolled my eyes. "Even if I did want a boyfriend, I probably wouldn't find one at competition, I'll be competing against them first of all and second, I don't have time for a boyfriend since I have the band and everything." "But Ethan and I..." I cut her off and finished/ corrected her sentence to be. " ...are in a band together and see each other during your busy hours of the day." "We still find time to hang out, outside of the band though! You could so do it!" I just sighed and walked over to her bed and sat down. I scrolled through instagram while waiting for her to get ready. About thirty minutes later, the now, completely straight haired and completely clothed southern girl walked into the room. " Damn finally!" I exclaimed. " Oh hush, you take a long time too." Come on, lets go we have to rehearse" I said, holding the door open and Carrie waited in the hallway so I could run in and get my things. "I'll see ya later mom, we have rehearsal." I grabbed my purse and keys and ran out the door. We hopped in my shiny navy blue Jeep and drove off to practice.
