"Maine..." Rj's Dad, Rich, approached Maine as soon as they arrived at the emergency room. He gently guided Maine away from the cubicle where RJ was. Pat & Oreo approached Mama Ten & April who were seated nearby.
Maine and RJ spoke to each other on the phone just earlier that morning. It was their routine for him to give her a good morning call. This morning however, she wasn't in the mood...
"Uy Love, what's wrong? Not feeling well?" He had sensed something was wrong when she picked up.
"Wala lang...I'm not in the mood..." was her dry reply.
"Haaay...ang baby ko o. Wait for me and I'll give you a tight hug! Tapos later, hang out tayo sa Shang.." He said cheerfully.
"Wala kang sched after Bulaga today?"
"Short meeting lang with Ma'am Jenny then I'm free..."
"Okay...sige, see you later" she still sounded distant.
"See you! I love you!" He said, hopeful.
"Later. Bye."
"Maine! Anak!" Tito Rich said and gave her a hug.
"Tito...si RJ? Kamusta sya?"
Maine quietly listened as tears began to flow down her cheeks.
Maine was slowly blocking out most of what she was hearing. At the same time, she knew she needed to hear all of it. She wanted to.
"He'll be staying here for a while.."
"How about April & Mama Ten?" she asked.
"They're fine. Shaken but fine. Tito Rich continued.
"Can I see him po?" She asked. Slowly standing from their seats.
Tito Rich gently put his arm around her. Together, they walked towards RJ.
