WHAT'S IN A NAME © 2013 by SamuelleMarii
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet." ~ Juliet; Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare
What’s in our name? Differences. Five different attitudes, five different characteristics, five different personalities, five different religions, yet united as one. I am not talking about Power Rangers, Beetles, Maroon5, Winx, W.I.T.C.H., Blush, Simple Plan, The Wanted, Fifth harmony, Parking5, One Direction or any five-member group out there. I am talking about these five ordinary girls.
Each and every one of us has our own perspectives in life and may vary in opinions; still we embrace each other’s differences. In this world, we live to conform, we cling together to survive and we help hand in hand to success. As John Donne says, “No man is an island.” We cannot live alone and we need somebody to stand with us no matter what happens.
As we take our journey on Earth, we had passed so many people; we may have bumped with them, and may have kept them company. There are those people that we just adore to be with and proved we were worth individuals. Worthy of what God has given; all the love and blessings. It might be an ordinary noun, but an extraordinary verb: a FRIEND.
A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be. It is easy to catch someone on the street to be your company; but hard to earn a friend in that instant. Friendship is a long-term relationship; it’s like a tree, easy to plant yet takes time to grow and be strong. It needs to be nourished and be taken care of.
June 7, 2010 would have been just another ordinary day until the five of us found each other. I could never forget how we’ve flipped and clicked in an instant. We may have known each other only as an acquaintance for so long, but then hours to give our confidence to one another. Until then, we do not know how this friendship had grown, what we’re sure of is that this friendship is strong and worthy keeping.
We always enjoy hanging out, usually on places where we could eat. I think this stuff is the surest thing that binds us: our love for food. Whatever we do, wherever we were and whenever we meet, eating is not omitted on the list of what to do’s.
There will be a time of the day that we would laugh our hearts out just because of a winning or a lousy joke. Our humor would never stop until all of us gets over to the topic. But then, we are ordinary people and imperfect. In some instance out of the blue we would quarrel about something. The funny thing is, we would still stick up and also in an instant we would forget about our argument.
Our friendship had been tested, we had been cracked, smashed, crushed, pounded, diced, minced, chopped, and pulverized by many obstacles, and still we keep each other. We believe that we are one-fifth of each, just a part of a whole, without the other we wouldn’t be complete. What this life might offer, good or bad, happy or sad, we will cling with each other because that’s what friends are for.
