Today was I swear the longest day of my life. I worked all day, and then I had to come home and tend to my badass children.

Chris was working late, I guess he had all kinds of paper work to do at the shop, but it was goin’ on ten and the kids still weren’t asleep. It was the weekend, and we had a habit of lettin’ them stay up way too late. Since Little Chris was the oldest, we didn’t mind lettin’ him stay up a little later then the others. But of course Christena and Maurice would get jealous, so it was either fight with them, or just let them stay up.

Tonight was one of those nights where I just said, "Oh what the hell" and let them all stay up because I was tired and didn’t feel like puttin’ up with their smartass mouths.

We were all in the living room watching, ’Despicable Me’, and it was keeping them pretty entertained while I on the other hand was dozing off on the couch.

"Mom, wake up."

I opened my eyes looking at Christena, who had sleepy-eyes.

"No, you know what, it’s time for bed. It’s almost ten." I stood up and clapped my hands together, "Come on!"

"Nooooo!" Christena whined.

"Stop whinin." Little Chris mumbled, getting up from the couch.

"Shut up Chris, the movie’s not even over yet mom." Christena whined again.

I sighed, “Honey it’ll be on the TV forever, it’s time for bed.”

Christena poked her bottom lip out and crossed her arms across her chest as she started to stomp towards the stairs.

"Come on Maurice." I yawned.

Maurice was still sitting on the couch, starring at the TV.

"Hello, come on."

"No." Maurice shook his head.

"Boy, if you do not get up and go to bed, I’m tellin’ your dad and he’s gonna ground you to your room all day tomorrow and you won’t be able to go to uncle Ty’s cookout." I told him. I picked up the remote and turned the TV off, "Let’s go."

Maurice stood up and looked at me with an angry look and ran over to the stairs, going up them quickly.

"That’s what I thought." I chuckled to myself.

Little Chris and Maurice shared a room, so I always said goodnight to them last, since Christena was my little girl.

"Goodnight baby girl." I bent down and gave her a quick kiss, "I love you."

"I love you too mommy." Christena said sleepily.

I left her room, shutting the door behind me before making my way to the boys’ room where they were crackin’ up over God knows what. As soon as I walked in, the laughing stopped.

"Go to sleep boys." I walked over to little Chris’ bed and bent down, "Gimme a kiss."

Little Chris kissed my cheek quickly, “Night mom.” He yawned.

"Goodnight baby, you…" I walked over to Maurice’s bed and bent down, "Gimme a kiss and go to sleep." I chuckled, puckering up my lips.

Maurice gave me a kiss and threw himself down on the pillows, “Love you mommy.”

"I love you. Goodnight boys." I walked towards the door and turned the light off before leaving the room, shutting the door behind me.

Finally, I can get some peace and quiet, all I needed was for Chris to come home and my night will be complete.
