The wind rushed by me causing my hair to unravel from its bun that sat atop my head. My wings opened up and suddenly I had stopped falling. I looked around me and saw I was only a few hundred feet from the door that lead to my father's study. My breathing became heavier than before I jumped I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins. I moaned at the acing caused by my unused wings. In a sudden burst I shot to the sky faster and faster I flapped my wings until I was at the top of where our world ended and the human world began. I ached my back and let myself fall towards the land below me, then landed softly on the ground. I looked back at the tower to see my father looking down at me, I never thought I'd say this but, I really disliked him at the moment. I lifted my dress and ran across the court yard not caring if the servants saw me in such a fuss. I got to my wing of the castle and practically ripped the door open, I ran passed the kitchen trying to avoid Ashlee.
"Tangee?" Ashlee called from the kitchen. I froze in place and slowly backed up and stood in the doorway, as Ashlee looked me up and down, I shifted my weight, she slowly walked up to me wiping her hands on a dish towel.
"What?" I snapped, "I don't have all day to stand around and be inspected like one of your-" I was cut off by her gasp.
"Tangee, your hair!" she proclaimed reaching to my head and playing with the black strip in my other wise white hair.
"Yeah?" I said pulling away a bit. "What of it?"
"Oh nothing," she smirking at me. "It's just really long, you can't really tell because it's in a bun twenty four/seven," she backed up a bit and studied me. "And your hair has this wind blown look about it... almost like-"
"She's been flying" a male voice called from behind me causing us both to jump. I turned around to see my father standing there, cherry red hair pulled back in a pony tail black wings shining in the candle light. Ashlee frowned at him.
"Oh daddy, I wanted her to tell me!" she said sticking out her bottom lip in a pretend pout.
"Sorry love," he shrugged walking into the kitchen. "But in all honesty what's the difference in her telling you or I?"
"It comes from her mouth"
My father smiled at her then opened his mouth to say something but I interrupted him.
"Oh big bloody deal," I said crossing my arms and tapping my foot. "I just so happened to use my wings today it's not as big a deal as both of you are trying to make it"
"Tangee, " Ashlee said with a smile. " It is a big deal. Your embracing who you are finally. If you have come to terms with it that means you really are-" she was interrupted by a long sharp cry, My saving grace from this conversation.
"Baby's up" I said sweeping my hair into a semi bun.
"I'll get her" father rose from his chair.
"No" I said throwing my hand out to stop him. At the same time a blue ball of light shot out of my hand and hit him in the chest causing him and the chair to fly back into the cupboard. I stared in shock then ran from the room and down the hall to answer the call of my child.
"Tangee!" I heard Ashlee call as I ran down the hall. I opened the door and tried to close it but my father pushed against it. I rolled my eyes and went to my child reaching for me from her crib, I picked her up and held her close to my chest as my father pretended to nibble at her fingers as she giggled my sister played with her soft Strawberry blonde. She clinched my hair and smiled up, a smile that took away all my anger.
