Chapter Two - The Hunters
~ Logan ~
I marched the streets of Downtown Chicago, making sure to look into peoples eyes if they stared at me for longer than I'd like. The rain pelted my black hoodie, and I wiped a drop of water from my forehead with my sleeve. My phone buzzed and I pulled it from my front pocket, quickly checking the text before water droplets covered the screen.
I found her. - Aiden
I stopped in my tracks, looking around me to check for eyes, then quickly ducked into an alley. I dialed Aiden's number, then put it to my ear, tapping my foot impatiently as it ringed.
"Hello?" Aiden picked up, sarcasm in his voice. He knew I had grown irritated and impatient with the fact these girls were hard to find.
"Where is she?" I asked, not bothering with formalities.
"Not so fast, Lowgy. You have to wait for it." I stiffened when he used his stupid name for me, then shook it off. I already knew he was trying to get under my skin - that's what Aiden does.
"Wait? I've been hunting her down for 5, incredibly tedious years now. I don't want to wait." I responded furiously.
"Well, if you would've searched for her earlier when she was younger - like I did with mine - you would have found her by now instead of me having to do it for you." He replied, smoothly.
"Just shut up and tell me where she is already." I shot angrily, and he chuckled.
"Well, I've known who and where she was for the past month. I've just been figuring out easier ways for you to get her. I had your locator turned on, and hers, so I could get you both in the right place at the right time." He responded coolly.
"I don't care about the details, Aiden." I said, through clenched teeth. "Just tell me where."
"You know what, Lowgey? This is why I never do anything for you. You're so... Sassy." He said, sarcasm and humor lacing his tone.
"Aiden," I warned, and he chuckled lightly.
"That animal shelter across the street from where you stand is where she has an internship. She's turning the corner on Fifth now." He said in a light, steady voice.
My eyes snapped to the corner of Fifth and Marley, to a girl with black hair, brown eyes, and a leather jacket. She smiled at a little boy as he passed, and he smiled back. The woman, who I assume to be his mother, grinned at him, and tugged him along the street as he gave the girl a lasting, curious look. She smiled and sent him a small wave, then kept walking. The red tracker stone around her neck gleamed, even though the sky was cloudy.
"Her name is Anna Avon." Aiden's voice in my ear made me jump, and I realized I had forgotten I still held the phone to my ear.
"Good job," I muttered the words into the phone before hanging up and slipping my phone back into my pocket.
"Alright," I murmured. "This should be... interesting." I flipped my hood off, and ran a hand through my hair, pulling a dazzling grin as I ran across the street and stepped in front of her.

I watched the blonde boy exit the apartment and turn to give the girl a hug. He walked down the narrow hallway as the girl stuck her head out and waved. He smiled and called out another goodbye before turning back around.
I raised the disgusting cigarette to my lips, making myself look busy as he passed me. He eyed me suspiciously before slowing his pace in front of me. "You know, smoking isn't allowed in the building."
I smiled at him in a friendly way, then threw the cigarette to the floor, stomping it out. Even though I didn't show it, I was too happy to take that thing away from my lips. "Sorry." I said, apologizing. With one last look of curiousity, he continued down the hall and disappeared down the steps.
I stood in the same spot casually, until I heard his car drive off. I pushed myself off the wall and started towards the girls door, knocking quickly in anticipation.
The door was pulled open, and the girl with straight brown hair and light brown eyes looked at me in confusion. "Sorry, do I know you?" She asked kindly, yet warily.
"Nope." I answered, then snapped my fingers. With that she fell to the floor, my arms catching her upper body right before she crashed into the floor.
"Nice work, me." I said, praising myself with a smile.

The girl desperately ran through the woods, avoiding tree branches and roots, twigs and stones. I kept up with her easily, barely making a sound, and she never seemed to notice me.
Well, this is boring. In a split second I changed direction, coming up behind her and calling out. "Hey!"
She turned, her breathing hard, and I ran to catch up to her, pretending to be out of breath. "Hey, is something wrong? I saw you running and you looked afraid-" She turned and began to run again, ignoring me completely.
"Rude." I muttered, before chasing after her at a human speed. I tackled her and we fell with a to the ground. I stood up as she lay unconcious, then cursed myself. I picked her up, a bruise already forming on her forehead.
"Fantastic," I said sarcastically, walking through the woods. "Just fantastic. I deserve an award for the worlds greatest kidnapper." I rolled my eyes, and headed towards the drop off point.

I winked at the girl as she drove off, and turned around and went to the employees bathroom. I slammed open the door and the tied up man and woman jumped back out if fear, sliding away from me. I rolled my eyes and ripped the tape off of their mouths, and pulled a pocket knife from my back pocket to cut their ropes.
"Alright, amigos. I'll be on my way now. Thanks for letting me borrow the place." I winked at them and walked away, taking the back exit out of the dusty gas station.
I casually walked to the parked black Ferrari hidden behind the store and jumped in, turning the key in the ignition and stretching my arms. "Sorry, miss Vanity," I said with a smile, "But vacay isn't going to end as you thought it would."
I pulled off, turning my on the GPS that connected to her necklace. I smirked and put on my sunglasses, pressing down on the gas a little harder. I chuckled to myself, getting comfortable in my seat. "Time for some action."
