Chapter One: Out of the water.
A current of warmth surrounds me I move from side to side I try to open my eyes but I can seem to. I concentrate on my breathing and realize I can't breath. I feel tied to something and fight to break free. My pulse quickens and the need of air makes me freak out. My movements become unsteady I hold to what's holding me down. With a bit of strength I break free and I feel my body go up. I manage to open my eyes and instantly I get blinded by an orangey light, once I'm on the surface my body acts automatically. I gasp for air and fight the water surrounding me. I try to calm myself, but I can't seem to. I look at my surroundings and I see solid grounds. I move towards it trying to breath. My arms feel weak and my legs lacks of strength to push me forward. I continue struggling until I get to feel soil with my toes. I start to steady myself on it but I sink in, I reach further and start to feel the soil against my fingers and arms as I sink. I continue on until reaching firmer ground. Once my knees stop sinking I let myself fall on the solid ground panting for air, closing my eyes.
Before I start drifting to sleep I get upside looking at the sky, the orange colors resemble something I've seen before but can't quite recall. I steady my heart and breathing and try to get up from the ground. I barely can hold myself as I struggle to get on my two legs. I notice that they're still touching the water; I get them out, I try to get up, but my knees go weak, letting me plunge back against the hard cold ground. I take a deep breath and try again. My arms and legs start to shake against my will, and it's now that I feel a terrible cold current. I feel the wind picking up crashing against my skin making it rise with each crash. I try to hold myself but my arms are not enough to cover me whole. I look up and see a tree fallen next to another. I walk towards it. My breath quickens as I try my best to walk towards it. I feel my limps go weak a couple of feet away from the trunk. I drag myself towards it. Once there I lay beside it noticing that the sky it's getting lighter and warmer. I try to say up but my body can't take it anymore and I doze off into slumber.
In my dreams I hear a child like laughter far away. I smile myself as I open my eyes, I'm surrounded by white veils moving with the warm wind. I get up from the cushioned chair and I walk towards one of the white columns, I hold to the veil that's not letting me see further, I look towards the garden filled with perfectly trimmed bushes, and flowers with a bright green grass that seem to never end. I hear the laughter once again and look where's coming from with a soft smile playing on my lips. I focus on the little girl that's running around with an orange ribbon following her around a fountain in the further left of the garden. I break into a smile and call for her "Amber." The little girl stops running and looks at me, as I lean into the column on my right. "Come." I tell her. She smiles and takes off towards me. Her laughter made me smile. "I'm coming mum." I squad down for me to receive her in my arms. She sees me and catches some speed and before getting to me she jumps into the air for me to catch her. I do so and spin with her on my arms as she hugs me tightly. She giggles as I stop, putting her down. "That was fun mum."- she says. "It was, wasn't it, Amber?"
"Yes mum."- she says holding my hand.I hear something and open my eyes. It sounds like steps against the ground. I look up and I see a lot of light coming through the leaves of the trees, I hear the steps getting closer. I freeze completely and wait for the steps to go away. But they don't. I look around and notice a figure staring directly at me. My heart quickens and I can't seem to move. From a distance I hear a soothing voice. "Girl, are you okay?" I don't move or say anything. The figure starts to get closer, and all I manage to do is close my eyes and place my head down. "Oh dear, you must be freezing out here naked and wet." The voice says right next to me, the woman stops talking and I hear movements followed by a sudden warmth placed against my quivering skin. I open my eyes and see the woman take a step back, I see what's on top of me and a large piece of something with bright colors surrounds me. And I hold on to it and try to get up, adjusting it to keep me warm around my arms, legs and body. I look up to the woman with a soothing voice without a word. "What happened to you?"- the woman said as she squat next to me and I got frightened by her sudden movements. "No, don't be scared, I won't harm you."- she says and she places a hand slowly on my head to caress my hair.
"Can you talk?" I move my shoulders, unknowingly. "At least you understand me." I nod. "That's good, where you came from?"- she asks and I pointed to the water. "From the lake?" I nod again. "Are you okay, are you hungry?" I move my shoulders again. "Have you eaten?" - I shake my head side to side. "Come, I live 10 minutes away, I promise you I won't harm you child. You're dirty, wet and naked. Not to mention you can be starved." I shake my head and try to move away. "Why not? You can do whatever you please, after I help you, I'm not going to force you to do anything that you don't want, I just want you to be safe." I take a deep breath and nod. I start to get up, and the woman offers her arm for me to hold on to it. I take it and softly smile to her. Once I'm up and my knees stop shaking, I try to take a few steps and the woman slowly walked with me giving me directions to where we should move. After a couple of minutes and my legs already tired I see a big thing the same color of the leaves. My eyes open up in amazement, I look at the woman and back. She chuckles and says "That's a car, it's built to move us faster, there's nothing to fear, trust me." I nod and continue walking with her aid.
She opens the metallic green door and sits me down and places something on my front that cause a sound once it's placed. I'll at her as she slowly closes the door. I start to get scared and I grunt trying to move. She rushes to the other side and opens the door. "No, don't be scared I'm right here, I just sat you down and placed the seatbelt on you for your own safety. And closed the door so I could get to this side." She sits down next to me and puts the thing that makes the sound and does something that makes a roaring sound. I get scared and hold to the surface in front of me. The surface shakes and I look at the woman, who smiles and says "that's the engine, and this is a car, and now we're going to move outside and we're going to be still inside." I nod and she starts to move the car. I'm amazed by this car thing. And suddenly we stop moving and the roaring stops. I look at the woman who takes the belt and makes a 'clack' sound and I looks at where it came from. I reach of it and put it back and pressed the button again and again. I smile and do that for a couple of times, until I remember I had one too. I did the same to mine, earning a chuckle from the woman. In a moment I feel the door open on my side. I got so caught up on my belt that I didn't noticed her getting out and around. "Come child, let's get you inside." I look at her and let go of my belt she place it on the side and helped me get on my feet again.
We walk towards a big thing my eyes open and we reach a change of levels and she says "One feet at the time, come on." I follow her lead and we stop in front of a soft wood reach for it, I place my hands and it feels soft. I hear a sound and see her put something on a type of hole and twist it and the soft wood opens. "This is my house, this is the door and now we go in." She leads me inside and it's hard for me to adjust my eyes and she lets me standing there going to a surface and pulling something letting the sun get in, making it easy for me to see.
