He stirred, crawling from under the shrub, a pulse of hunger shooting through him, and there was no prey around so he searched as the hatchling slept,  he smelt  the air, no prey scents. That's weird.. He thought. He suddenly smelt the scent of fire, he looked off in the distance, there was fire. He went over to the shrub, and grabbed the hatchling, he ran with the hatchling from the growing fire, the shrub was a burning bush, and the fire was growing, so he kept running, he didn't stop even if his legs were tired. He ran fast, but not far, and the fire was closer behind him, he grabbed the hatchling and ran again, he found a wall of rocks, he hid behind them, setting the hatchling down, and it was whining, he looked at them and saw a slight burn mark on its tail, and he licked it, he looked up from behind the rocks and saw that the fire was close enough for him to feel the heat. He grabbed the hatchling, but before he could run the fire had surrounded the wall of rock, so he took to the skies with one great beat of his wings. He flew over the stretch of fire, and flew far from the fire...to an abandoned village. He landed and hid under many bushes behind a house, he set the hatchling down and slept. They had flown over a wide river, so the fire didn't spread to their location.
