She asked me what it was like to be pretty
I said that she didn't need to ask me that
She told me that she hated how much she weighed
I told her that there were people who worked for months just to have her shape
She told me that she felt ugly
I told her that she was the most beautiful person I had ever met
She told me that she felt lonely
I told her that's usually how stars feel
She told me that she wanted to die
I told her that she gave me a reason to live
She told me that she was a horrible person
I told her that she was the only good person I knew
She told me that she didn't believe in miracles or God
I told her that's fine as long as she believes in herself
She told me that I was one of her only true friends
I told her that she was my only friend
She said that she didn't deserve anything
I told her she deserved all the stars in the sky and more
She told me that she loved me
And I cried because for the first time that didn't feel like a lie
She told me that she was in pain
And I told her that that's how diamonds form
She asked me what I'd do if she killed herself
And I told her that if she killed herself she'd be killing me with her
