Long before the heroine of our story was born, the reason she had been born was just beginning to stir. In the heart of Ireste, darkness was beginning to outweigh light. People stayed shut inside their homes, fearful to so much as peek out their window. They were scared that they would lay their eyes upon the one thing they knew would bring to them death. Even the magic folk stayed hidden, for they could especially sense the darkness of the world that they once loved. And even then, the people of Ireste knew that their world was going to come to an end, for no hero stood a chance against Kraka.
Much to the surprise of the people of Ireste, a hero did indeed rise from the ashes and try to claim back their world. His name was Erias. Erias was a human, and humans were always thought to be the inferior to magic folk. When magic folk learned there was a hero on the rise and that he was a human, they were filled with respect for him and immediately began building up their army, which would one day fight alongside Erias. They fought in one last attempt to save the only home they had, for if they lost against Kraka, they would all be overcome by evil along with Ireste.
No one quite knew exactly what Kraka was. Most thought of him as someone with magic blood who had gone evil, but some thought of him as a human who had experimented with dark magic and let it overcome him. However, very few saw him as the way that he really was; a person with both human and magic blood. It was illegal for magic folk and humans to marry, and if they did, they would immediately go into hiding. If the couple tried to have a child, the child would most likely die before it was born. If the child did survive, it would grow to have severe problems with its body and mind and would die before the age of 10. In other words, a child of a human and magic folk was doomed to a fate that led straight to death. Kraka, however, had been made immortal and was taking over the world that had shamed his parents for marrying. He would have been stopped except for a catch; because he was both human and magic, he was stronger and much more powerful than any human or magic folk could ever be. There was no chance that he could be beaten. Only to add onto that, Kraka also had built himself an army, and his soldiers were a mix between humans and magic folk, all dark at heart, and they called themselves Wraiths.
Even though they knew this, no one was going to sit around and let their home be stolen from them. Led by Erias, 15,000 of the now conjoined world of Ireste rose up to fight for their light. The magic folk, consisting of faerie, elves, trolls, and nymphs, aided the humans in this battle, wounding the Wraiths. The battle was long and blood of all the races was shed, but Erias' army was victorious, and were freed from Kraka. They had won, but now the humans and magic folk wanted nothing to do with each other, so they all went back to the lives they had before. The alliance that was once shared between humans and magic folk was long forgotten. They grew to hate each other once again, and the magic folk created their own land of Tomeria. Thousands of years would pass before their alliance was remade, and when it was, the reasons were quite similar. Kraka had not truly lost, he had only retreated from battle so that he could rebuild his power. He was rebuilding his power so that for his next attack, he would not lose.
