water
noun/
a colourless, transparent, odourless, liquid which forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms.A rush of adrenaline rushes from the tops of my fingers all the way to my feet as I dive into the hole I've been imagining for the last 30 seconds.
The water temperature gives me a shock, the cold water rushes past my face and down my body as I propeller my body through the water.
I can faintly hear the buzzing sound of the crowd cheering people on, it's only when I roll my head out of the water to take a deep breath that I hear "Whoo, Go Adira" "We believe in you Adira"
I smile faintly, the water making me shiver when it reaches my teeth that I exposed when I smiled.
I zone out of everything that's going on around me, I focus on one thing, and one thing only, and that's winning this race.
I keep propelling my arms, using all the strength I have to move through the water. I rely on the banana that I ate before my race to help me have enough energy to go as fast as I can.
Before I know it I'm already in the middle of doing a tumble turn, I blow out all the air that I trapped inside my mouth, as I turn back on my stomach to finish this last length.
I quickly take a risk and glance at where I am coming so far, one swimmer is only a little further in front and the other five swimmers are behind me.
I turn my head and take one huge breath, I close my eyes and start to kick my feet as hard as I possibly could imagine.
I know I can, I know I can, I know I can, Adira, I know I can.
I say over and over inside my brain which is mixed with different thoughts.
My chin stays glued to my chest and my eyes stay sticked to the bottom of the pool floor, I swim along the blue line as a guide line as to where I have to go.
The faster I swim, the more of a blur the blue line appears.
As I get closer to the end of the pool I can hear familiar voices encouraging me along, I kick even harder, harder then I ever thought my body could do.
I swim hard into the wall, I keep my arms out in front of me so I can stop myself from banging into the wall, my bare hands smash hard against the bumpy pool wall.
I slowly lift my head out of the water, and immediately loud roars of celebration echo and bounce around the room.
A staff member comes rushing to me and handing a Green stick that reads, FIRST PLACE. A smile creeps onto my lips as I take the block out of the staffs members grasp.
"Thank you" I smile, a huge smile that reaches from one ear to the other.
"Take pride in how far you've come and have faith in how far you can go, or in your case, swim" She giggles.
I nod in appreciation as she turns around to hand out the rest of the placing blocks.
"Take pride in how far you've come and have faith in how far you can go" what's that suppose to mean? Eh.
My Mum and my brother come running to the side of the pool where I'm currently floating to get my breath back.
"ADIRA! ADIRA!" My six year old brother max screams as he runs up to me.
