Introduction: Nightmares

"Run Stella run!" someone screamed the darkness covered their face from me. I could hear the moans of whatever it was behind me I was too scared to look back. I began to run as fast as my legs could take me. The pavement under my feet felt rough and unstable. "Run," the voice screamed at me I wanted to yell back. When suddenly my foot caught the edge of a risen piece of concrete. My body was thrown to the ground, paralyzing me with fear for what was lurking out of the darkness. The moaning turned into a piercing screech causing me to let out the worst bloodcurdling scream. The ground from under me began to crumble as I continued to scream. I landed with a sudden thud.

I could hear a voice around me once more. "Stella sweetheart, are you okay?"

my mother's voice seemed to bring me back, the light came on in a panicky gesture. Was this all a terrible, terrible nightmare I questioned myself as I realized where I was. On the floor, tangled in my comforter. My mother cradled my face in her hands she was clearly worried for some reason. I rose from the floor and noticed that the alarm was on the floor broken. "It's 6:45, my mother said looking at her wrist watch. I was supposed to be in school in two hours.

My name is Stella Aria Foner a Junior at Charles High School, I am 17 years old. I have lived in Evansville, Texas my whole life and well it is pretty boring nothing ever happens here. I laugh as I walk to my closet where a new set of uniforms for the year hangs. A burnt orange polo shirt, and khaki pleated skirt. A new color for a school year I sighed as I dressed. I loved how the color of this polo complements my olive skin. I check the time on my phone seeing as my alarm clock was brutally slaughtered "It's 7:20, already" I yelled rushing to get my hair and make-up done. "I'm not going to be late for my first day" I said forming an "L" on my fore-head and running out with my book bag dragging faithfully behind me.

My mother stood at the end of the hallway adjusting the collar of my little sister Lynn's uniform shirt. "I'm going to school too" she said smiling. Lynn was just starting school, I remember when I was 4 everything seemed so fresh and exciting. The only exciting thing I will be looking forward to is one of my instructors dropping the "F-bomb". Then there's Alexander Stone my best friend the one that keeps me sane in this town. I get to see him again, he's been away at some special camp so he says.

I usually walk to school but my sister wanted me to see her become a big girl as she but it to me.

I took my seat next to Lynn, her small face lit up her green eyes still sparkled in innocence.

" It'll be okay Stella, you'll make lots of friends at school" she told me holding my hand

Time seemed to start to pick up, I said my goodbyes to Lynn as she ran into school yard.

Pretty soon I was on my way to school, I could see the school sign from a block away. I sank into my seat. I grunted as my mother pulled up to the front gates. "Have a good day at school sweetheart" she seemed to be fighting back tears as she spoke.

As I was walking towards the entrance something fell in front of me. It appeared to be an envelope with a red wax seal. Curiosity ran through my body to pick up what lied in of me. I examined the exterior something caught my eye, my name written in a sparkling golden ink. I dropped the envelope in shock.
