You're as Sweet as Ice Cream

Emily's P.O.V

     I stood there in the ice cream parlor eating my favorite kind of ice cream, strawberry swirl. As I was walking out of the little ice cream parlor I ran into someone and before I knew it I got ice cream all over them! I was about to yell at whoever the person I had ran into was but as soon as I looked up I realized I ran into a cute boy. So, instead of using my first instinct I quickly apologized thinking he was going to yell at me. He cut into my apology and instead of yelling at me he just said it was okay and didn't matter and before I could stop myself I blurted out "You're as sweet as ice cream!"

As soon as I said that I immediately regretted it. I didn't know what to do, my cheeks turned red and I realized what a complete idiot I was making out of myself. All I could think of doing at the time was to run. I just ran as fast as I could and as far away from there as I could, even though from behind me I heard the boy yell "Wait! I didn't even get to ask your name!"

     Yeah... That was embarrassing. As I was running I was processing everything that just happened through my head. I realized I just left him standing there alone with my ice cream on his Nirvana t-shirt. I just met a really cute guy and ruined all my chances, if I even had any, all because I had to spill my ice cream all over him. Wow... I'm such a klutz! And not only did I spill my ice cream all over him I called him "sweet" and then just ran away. See, this is why I'm not in a relationship.

Even though I basically just ruined all my chances of having a relationship ever, I just had to try to forget about it and go on with my day. I texted my best friend Lilly to come pick me up because I walked to the ice cream parlor and I ran in the opposite direction of my house. I reached a park and sat on a bench while I waited for Lilly to come.

After about 10 minutes Lilly pulled up in front of the bench I was sitting at and opened the door while saying "Hop in Emily!" I got up and jumped into her red jeep and buckled my seat belt while she turned the radio down so she could talk to me easier. The first thing she said to me was "So what'd you do this time?" I tried not to laugh when she said that but I couldn't help myself and let out a giggle but quickly covered my mouth to prevent another one. According to Lilly I do clumsy things like this all the time where I need her to swoop in and save the day, but I personally think she's over exaggerating when she says that.

     Anyways I answered back telling her everything that I did as she was driving us to my house. When I was finished telling Lilly what embarrassing thing I did this time I looked over to she her laughing at me while keeping her eyes glued on the road. I slugged her in the arm, not hard enough to hurt, but hard enough she noticed. She gasped and loudly said "What was that for! Do you want us to get in an accident!" I replied saying "You were laughing at my story when it's not funny!" She started to laugh again saying "Actually it is funny." And for the next 3 minutes I kept saying "No it's not!" and Lilly always replied with "Yes it is!" until we finally reached my house. This is why we are best friends.

When Lilly parked in front of my house we both go out and walked inside. I saw my mom watching TV in the living room and we both said hello and walked to the kitchen. Once we got into the kitchen Lilly sat down at the table while I got some water for the both of us. I got the water and I sat at the table with Lilly. I asked her "What do you think I should do about the ice cream and the cute boy?" Lilly said "Emily calm down! You don't even know the guy and it's not like you're ever going to see him again. Just forget about it." When she said that I knew she was right so I nodded my head and took another drink of my water while I sat there pushing the memory out of my brain.

     Well I tried... I tried to not remember it but I just couldn't forget it! The memory kept playing in my head over and over again but I knew I had to move on so I finished my glass of water and told Lilly that we were going to go see a movie. Lilly agreed that would be a good idea so I walked out of the kitchen and walked into the living room to tell my mom we were going to go to a movie. She said "Okay, you two have fun!" I then ran upstairs pulling Lilly with my while I got my jacket since it was getting chilly outside, my wallet, and then we left for the movies.
