The last few nights has been quiet for the Bat family. No big criminal had tried to breakout of Blackgate or Arkham. The only big crime Gotham had the last few nights were bank robberies caused by a few minor thugs.
Everyone in Gotham retired early. Today was the calmest Gotham had ever been. There was no mugging. No breaking and entering. Not a single crime. It had surprised everyone.
Tim Drake had decided to finish his patrol early. He was tired and his body ached. Red Robin had taken up the last three nights for patrol. He was paranoid about something big happening. Tim thought Gotham's biggest villains were up to something. Tim knew Gotham's biggest villains were up to something.
He was flying through the streets. Tim landed on the roof of his pent house. He opened the skylight and dropped in. The TV was on and old detective shows played. Tim grabbed the remote and turned it off.
Tim heard the water turn off in the bathroom. Shrugging off his cape and cowl, he went to go get some clean clothes. He could hear the soft footsteps of his lover. Quickly, he changed and walked to where she was standing. Closing the door he leaned over to kiss her.
"You're home really early," she said. "Did Batman let you take the night off?"
Tim chuckled and sat down on his side of the bed. "No. Just thought I'd leave patrol early to get some sleep." Lying down, he watched her walk over to lay down next to him. She pulled the covers up to her shoulder and looked at him. "Why'd you stay up?" Tim asked.
"I was waiting for you," she responded. "Goodnight, Timmy."
"'night, (Y/N)."
---
(Y/N) woke up to the smell of coffee, toast, and something burning. It had took her a moment to process the third. she jumped up in alarm and ran to the kitchen. In a panic she tried to get whatever was being cooked off the stove.
Tim ran over to the kitchen to see what she was doing. Quickly, she took the food out of the pan and threw it away. After placing the pan in the sink she turned to glare at Tim.
"What?" Tim said. (Y/N) let her palm catch her head and sighed. Not this morning. Not this early. She glanced up to see Tim still trying to figure out what she had done.
"Tim, we have been over this. You are not supposed to make food unless it is toast or a drink." Tim shrugged and kissed her forehead. She rolled her eyes and laughed softly. "Alright, since the situation is under control, I need to write my essay. I'll be by the counter if you need me."
Walking off in different directions, Tim decided to check the Arkham Asylum data base. He needed to know if they were still there or not. As he read through he made a mental checklist. The only one that hadn't been in Arkham was Joker.
He had been missing for a few months. Joker had then popped up a few weeks ago, kidnapping a few people and then disappeared. This isn't like him, Tim thought. He needs the limelight. He strives on-
Tim was cut short of his thoughts when (Y/N) tapped him on his shoulder. He glanced up to look at her as she spoke.
"Tim something's wrong with the computer." she said looking back over her shoulder.
"What are you talking about?" he responded. Getting up out of his chair he went to see what was wrong. "What happened?"
"I don't know. I was just typing my essay and the screen when black."
Tim looked the laptop then sat down. Probably just a small virus. He asked her if she had saved her document and then restarted the computer. When the computer came back on the screen went green. Tim heard (Y/N) walk away to get some coffee. When she came back the TV had turned on.
"Did you do that?" (Y/N) asked. Tim shook his head and mouthed 'No'. "Then how did...?"
A smiley face appeared on the screen. The screen stayed the same for a few seconds then Joker appeared. Tim looked to his lover and she looked back at him and looked at both the computer and TV. The Joker was on both screens.
"Good evening Gotham!" Joker began. "I would like to announce that I'm back! Yes, your one and only favorite clown prince is back! And with a few new tricks I might just add." he started laughing. "As you know it has been way too quiet and I was thinking maybe I could spice things up a bit. Now you see this?"-he held up a small chip-"This is a bomb! Fun right? Now I have these little things planted in random people all around Gotham! Just how many people have it, I don't know! All I do know is that if I don't have control over Gotham in the next twenty-four hours, a lot of lives are going to be lost. Now I know that could be very, very scary for some people but It doesn't have to be that way... Though if you attack me I will detonate the Bombs and your loved ones will be scattered around different parts of the city..." the speech ended with Joker laughing and the screens going back to their original state.
(Y/N) looked at Tim and spoke in a soft voice. "He doesn't really mean the bombs are inside of people, right?" Tim shook his head and looked for his suit.
"Yes. Yes he means the bombs are literally inside people. How they got there I have no idea." Tim walked off and soon returned with his Red Robin suit on. (Y/N) was by the balcony looking down at all the people running out of their cars and homes.
"Chaos and panic...people are already hurting each other to find the Bombs." Tim put on his cowl and walked over to (Y/N). Kissing her, he told his 'I love you' and went out to go be the hero.
